What a beautiful and well done reconstruction of what must have been a stunning original. No photos are allowed inside the church but guide books can be purchased with the history of the site and beautiful color pictures for less than $1...yes, you read that right, less than $1. Very ornate and tastefully decorated with fresco's and the iconic orthodox... More

This is a recomstruction, but an absolutely wonderful one. It is amazing how the spirit of God lived on through the Soviet occupation to inspire folks to rebuild this monument. Great place to visit and a good landmark to navigate from. I hope the current hostilities leave it alone.

This cathedral was the most ornate in my opinion and inside was the most beautiful of all the cathedrals in Kyiv.

Within walking distance from St. Sophia's and adjacent to the statue of Queen Olga, St. Michael's is a Kiev must see. Watch out for the pigeon people who loiter in front of the main gates and prey on tourists. They will force you to hold a pigeon and then harass you for money. My teenager was accosted by them and... This church was razed in Soviet days, then rebuilt in the 1990s. It is a complex with an entry gate and a church inside with other buildings dotted around the complex. Beautiful gold onion dome spires on a sunny day with blue sky

The church is very beautiful, but to me St Sophia and St Andrews are more beautiful. But still this is very beautiful and you must go. Once you see this one, go to St. Sophias Church and from the tower you will get beautiful pictures facing St. Michaels.

I live in Kiev and work as city guide there. One of my favourite sacred places in Kiev is Saint Michael Golden Domed Cathedral. It always impresses my tourists by the unique combination of colours:skyey, white, golden...Prayers and tourists are always welcome there. Next to the Cathedral itself, there is also an ancient temple - St. John the Evangelist -... More
