Stunning building outside and in. Beautiful regardless of your religious beliefs. Easy to get to and one can make a circuit seeing St. Michael's, riding the Funicular, see St. Andrews, and walk St. Andrew's Descent. For the energetic, you can also swing by St. Sophia's which is not far from St. Michael's. There is also a lovely view of the... More

This was one of the churches we went in during our quick stay in Kiev. Definitely worth a peak inside- no cost to enter and quite a beautiful interior. Good introduction to Eastern church styles.

We did not go there as tourists, but as members of the Christian community. It is definitely a religious experience. When you enter you become overwhelmed by the atmosphere and humbled. I would rather there be another category for such locations since I feel this is not a typical "tourist" attraction - if you are religious please go for the... More

It is centrally located and an easy walk from most hotels and apartments in the center. Very ornate and beautiful inside and out. Still a working monastery. Had the opportunity to meet the niece of the sculptor who did the three statues near the entrance. She was a wealth of knowledge about the Cathedral and the statues! Do not miss... More

I saw many churches during my star in Kyiv but none of them came close to the majesty of St. Michael's. I came here at least once a day for a week, I couldn't get enough of it. It is an active church so you will hear the priests chanting any see people praying. If possible you should go during... More

One of the most beautiful cathedrals in Kyiv, it is a functioning monastery that is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River close to the Saint Sophia Cathedral. The original cathedral was demolished by the Soviets in the 1930s, and it was reconstructed in 1999.

Its a monastery, its blue, it has golden roof and a lot of religious wallpaintings inside. If you like this kind of buildings Kiev is the place for you. The russian orthodox churches is amazingly well decorated with pictures of saints, biblical stories and gold. Go here and be stunned.

From the outside, there is the main clock tower, a mural, and then the main building itself. Like so many other buildings, the spires/ minarets (?) are embellished with gold, which always looks stunning in the sun. It's free to enter the courtyard, which brings relief from the street traders trying to get you to have pictures taken with what... More

The area is decently maintained and the whole place has always had this peaceful air about it. Just stroll around the internal courtyard after visiting the inside of the cathedral (looks better during the warm months of course). The place was also turned into a field hospital during the Maidan events of end 2013 - beginning 2014, which helped save... More
