I'm really surprised by the good reviews as I didn't think St. Michael's Cathedral was anything special. It certainly wasn't spectacular & is very similar to the other cathedral's in Kiev. If you really like churches & cathedrals then you might enjoy it but otherwise don't bother.

If you like Cathedrals then whoopy do, if you're sick of Cathedrals then avoid. I've been to far too many Cathedrals to get excited about any, other than the truly amazing ones. Also, most of the other Cathedrals in the area are very similar.

Very nice art work, open to the public. It was an easy walk from my hotel a few blocks away. On a Saturday morning, there were few people walking around and through the church.

Hard to find the words that can describe the beauty and atmosphere of this place, just when you walk in you understand that this is a sacred place. it will be the biggest mistake if you are staying in kiev and don't come to visit it.

I saw this Cathedral as part of a walking tour. I could not believe it was relatively new to the city! Stunniing setting and wonderful to walk around and enter into the cathedral itself. the small grounds around the outside were lovely even at the early start of spring. Just a place to sit and be still for a moment.

This cathedral was essentially next door to my hotel while visiting Kyiv for a month. I'm told it's actually a reconstruction of a much older cathedral. I can only say the reconstruction appears to have been very successful. It has a very nice souvenir shop staffed by very friendly and helpful ladies. The cathedral precinct is a quiet and peaceful... I stopped in during a national prayer for peace, and found the Cathedral to be a beautiful place. The artwork and reverent atmosphere I'll remember for a long time.

Attended mass a Sunday morning. Didn't understand a word, but it was an incredibly beautiful experience. The choir singing was of national opera quality.

Stunning building outside and in. Beautiful regardless of your religious beliefs. Easy to get to and one can make a circuit seeing St. Michael's, riding the Funicular, see St. Andrews, and walk St. Andrew's Descent. For the energetic, you can also swing by St. Sophia's which is not far from St. Michael's. There is also a lovely view of the... More
