To see and be seen on the weekend, this is the place to go in Kiev. The street is closed to traffic on the weekend and hundreds of people stroll peacefully and socialize. Very European feel even with the McDonalds by the Metro station near the center.

The most famous of all streets in Kiev. Crosses Maidan square. An avenue in the middle with 3 lanes on each site, underground crossing and plentiful pedestrian walkway. Here you will find a few restaurants (admittedly not the best) many shops, a metro, small shopping center, night clubs, kiosks selling all kinds of stuff, from coffee to ice cream to... More

Great sites, Great Restaurant's. Great shopping. Must see Independence Square where the people of Ukraine stood up to the Government of Ukraine and over a hundred people were murdered by people supporting the last President who ended up fleeing to Russia.

This meant that in summer you could not open your windows!! Nothing has changed and my visits back to Kiev always involve a stroll down Khrescahtyk/memory lane, through Maidan (Independence... More

I'm not sure if we visited at the wrong time (Easter Sunday) but there wasn't much shopping to be done (at least not above ground as we discovered the underground mall later in the day.). There were plenty of people but not much to do. Also be aware that almost none of the shops speak English. Nice to have visited... More

Main street of Kiev. Unfortunately traffic jams made driving this street impossible. In the middle of the street there is located Majdan Place.

Kreshchatyk Street is the heart and soul of city center in Kiev. From McDonalds to McDonalds and beyond it is the gathering place for teens drinking and celebrating weekends in the warmer months. There are booths that offer beer (of course) and food, ice cream and boutique stores lined up sidewalk to sidewalk on both sides of the street. Cafe... More
