One of the main streets in Kiev, includes Independence Square. Big, busy and heaving with people but a number of excellent little cafes and restaurants along the way. Closed to traffic at weekend so much easier to see everything that is going on.

This is one of the main streets of downtown Kiev - many sites including churches, maiden and hotels are all close to Khreshchatyk street. There are many vendors and restaurants to enjoy and a great place to grab a coffee and people watch. I walked it every day I was in Kiev and always enjoyed it.

There's nothing particurlar about this big and busy avenue on working days. But as it is closed for traffic on weekends, it's the best place for people watching as well as checking some very good street artists.

Beside the Saint Sophia Cathedral ,the Golden Gate ,the third high point of this enchanting town is for sure the main strret in Kiev, that is, the Khreshchatyk Street. It takes its start point from the Europen Square (northeast), beside the huge green area, hilly part of town with slopes toward the Dnipro River and stretches over the Maidan or... More

We spent a couple of days in Kiev in september 2014. Peace in the town, though in the city everything makes us to remember of the last winter's history. The people are enthusiastic, they don’t want war, but they certainly don’t like Putin! Everything is painted to blue-yellow. The whole town is beautiful, with a chaotic traffic for a European.... I thought this was interesting to see. There were many stores along this street. Also there are many musicians and street performers here. So it's worth checking out.

The area is restored to pre Feb. conditions. Always a fun place to people watch, grab a café and do a bit of shopping.

Closed to traffic at the weekend - this is a beautiful street to wander & mingle with the citizens of Kiev. I found the city friendly & welcoming and safe, too - but the memorials around the Maidan & Independence Square are heartbreaking - stop a moment and pray..........
