Do You fancy noise, car pollution and poorly reconstructed postsoviet buildings? Then Trg republike is the right place for You. Do not worry, I am just joking, but sadly just partly. It is still nice to see the lively streets of big town and surely it is not far away from other interesting buildings but frankly, there is just nothing... More

The square is the focal point of Belgrade with busses, taxis and lots of restaurants. Little stalls with souvenirs and sweets. The place to meet!

It is just a square with nothing interesting there. They should really wash the monument, it is green!

Here on Trg Republika ( the Republic Square) is always busy. The people go to and fro, in want to see something or someone, to attend some happening, to sit in some cafe or restaurant. And must be said that it is the real center of Belgrade, urban neighborhood, located in Stari Grad municipality. From this place a many buses,... More

Most of the things seem to start from here! Most of the buses, Knez Mihailova, which is the road with the big shops and brands in the city, most of the appointments are held in front of the statue e.t.c. The museum behind the statue was semi-open for visitors (whatever that means) but worth the try! cafes and restaurants available... More

For the past couple of years there is a Christmas market on the space between the Trg Republike and Knez Mihailova. As every traditional market, it has lots of food and drinks and decorations. You can find mulled wine, ratluk, praline, candies, langos, hand made cosmetics, and my all time favorite - Hungarian Chimney Cake.

The republic square is the heart of the city, a good place to see crowds of locals walking by. There are some buildings with nice architecture including the national museum, now under construction, which has an electronic clock on its facade counting backwards showing the time till its reopening. The square is the the starting point to Belgrade's free walking tours... nothing special about this place. Quiet crowded, surounded with shops, bars, crossed with traffic. Not big, no special. Orientation point to go to other highlights.

It's just a crossroad. The Monument of Prince Mihailo is a meeting point in the center of Old City Belgrade. The National Museum (closed for renovation) and the National Theater enclose the square.
