The present square was formed after the demolition Stambol Gate (1866) and the construction of the National Theatre (1869). Stambol Gate, built by the Austrians in the early 18th century, was located between the monument to Prince Mihailo and the National Theatre. It was the largest and most beautiful gate in time when the city was surrounded by a moat.... More

If you want to meet someone in Belgrade, just say 'let's meet kod Konja'..our favorite place for meeting from the time there was no mobile or even land phones :) . Excellent startpoint for sightseeing.

This is the main meeting place in Beograd, usually at the clock tower. The Free Walking Tours meet at the clock tower daily and I highly recommend taking one! Not the most scenic of city center squares, but the buildings around the square have history.

Quite busy and foggy, but it is normal being the majn square of a capital city. What is not normal is the museum behind the equestrian statue of Mihailo Obrenovic, under reconstruction for GodKnowsHowManyYears, with those ugly scaffolds that speak lenghts about the importance of culture for some politicians....

We travel with 3 kids and living 300m from this park. I have seen better parks like the one in Blvd Alexandra but for the kids it is Ok. For us was a place to seat and see the kids play. For a much nicer green area go some hundreds meters and you will find. Kalmegdan.

I found quite interesting that Belgraders say let's meet around the ''horse''! If you are interested in culture, history and, most of all, #lifestyleserbia you deffinitely need to visit this square and hear something more about it, mauby the best way for it is to go on a Belgrade Free Tour around City centre (strats daily at 12 p.m. from... I was really not impressed by this square. There is a lot of traffic around and we could barely find one decent place to take a photo :) However, around the square you can find a lot of nice places to eat and drink!

It is a nice little square, it is on the begining of the street Knez Mihajlov, it has two fountains, a souvenir shop with really original and nice souvenirs.
