Having read The Tigers Wife, I needed to visit the Belgrade Zoo. We had a lovely stroll through the zoo and it is a perfect place to bring the kids.

This zoo is very cute, located in the middle of Belgrades fortress of Kalemegdan. Lots of animal spicies, lots of opportunities for children to see and learn about animals. SImply beautiful.

There's so many types of animals, but they're all kept in too small cages and in non-humanic condition. Snakes are kept in some ugly glass-y something and poor elephants are in very dangerous cage. And so on... Poor animales... Also, the souvenir shop didn't work, despite it was time to be open. Horrible!

Loved seeing big cats and elephant up close and some more modern enclosures good, other old enclosures far too small for size of animal and animals looked stressed and fed up. General size and feel of zoo good for a quick visit if pushed for time.

situated in the fortress itself, its a great place to walk during the day, but if you visit it with kds they will ask why the cages are so small and the animals don't live in a nice big space. for a city like that, it's a great zoo, but it should be placed a little firther off the fortress,... White tigesr and lions are really worth seeing. Visit made us still sorry for the animals, bacause cages were very small and some of them in not so good condition, Interesting birds also!

For a relatively small city like Belgrade, this zoo is great ! It has a lot of animals and parts of it still have that 'beginning of the 20th century' charm. Very nicely situated inside an old fortress, this is one of the best experiences of visiting Belgrade. A hearty recommendation.

I only went to the zoo because of the white lions, they have 6 of the maybe 200 or 300 in the world.
