An excellent place and an amazing building. It's worth seeing it from inside and outside, but also to stay for a play.

We arrived at the opera house on a day the orchestra was rehearsing so it wasn't open to the public. We went around to the side (right when facing enterance) and found a the staff door. For a very small fee a security guard allowed us in and walked us around the inside. His English was limited, but it was... More

When top price tickets are only 80 RON (about £16), it seems silly not to take the opportunity to go to the opera for the first time! We turned up just before the performance and bought tickets for a production of Tosca, which we really enjoyed. We didn’t really know what to expect so we looked up the synopsis online... More

This opera house was reminds me of old pictures of Bucharest before communism, how beautiful it was, much like Paris is now. A gem in a new world. Saw the marriage of Figaro here was nice.

I went to see Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake at the Bucharest National Opera House. The experience was superb. The performance by the artist was elegant and breathtaking at some moments. You don't need to be local and saw many foreigners eager to see the Romanian version of this historical opera. The building is superb and the interior is perfect setting. You... More

On a three day trip to Bucharest, we visited the National Opera house twice, once to see an opera (Rigoletto) and then to see the ballet (Corsarul/le corsaire). Both productions were absolutely superb, with amazing sets and costumes, wonderful orchestra and incredible cast. The opera was certainly on par with Glyndebourne and the Vienna Staatsoper. The tickets were incredibly reasonably... More
