If you want to know the important facts about Romanian history you should visit this museum. Inside there are probably the most important artefacts (The Treasury) and you can find also a Trajan's Column replica. They have a very good souvenir shop at the entrance with very good prices. The entrance fee is 8 lei (about 2 euros). More

The National History Museum is situated in the Posts Palace. I was impressed by the great collection of objects recovered from the archeological sites of Romania. More

The museum is closed until further notice except for the Treasury and the Lapidarium. The treasury is in a bank vault and holds Romania's crowns and sceptre, Dacian and Roman gold, jewels and religious artefacts. The Lapidarium is basically a hall dedicated to the Trajan Column in Rome with a full-scale replica separated on panels [guide available] explaining the wars... More

Hosted in the former Postal Services Palace, erected between 1894-1900 by architect Alexandru Savulescu, the museum presents the history of Romania from ancient times until the present day. A must: the treasure with the impressive gold hoard of the Visigoth princes, named The Hen with Golden Chicks (fourth century AD), weighing 19 kilos. More

After visiting the Romanian National History Museum you end up thinking the history of Romania is limited to a few years around 101-106 AD. The museum is closed down with only the Treasury and the replica of Trajan's Column in Rome open for visitation. The last one is good because it displays the frieze horizontally in segments, so you can... More

This museum will be one of the best places for tourists to visit when its renovation is over and they can open the whole museum for the public, but it can take time. The country is poor and short of money for culture renovations. When I was there only 3 of 11 rooms were open. But I saw interesting treasures... More
