A very impressive working nunnery at the top of a sweeping cobblestone path. Walls are in good condition. The central church has the usual interior icon paintings which are beautifu with an unpainted exterior. The place is very peaceful and quiet. Came across this wonderful place on a field trip with my husband. Superb church. Check out the flue in the nunnery kitchen. An off the beaten track Unesco recording that is well worth seeing.

Horezu Monastery sits beyond the small village in a hilly setting with fruit trees and hay. The long cobblestone path takes the visitor upwards and out towards the fortified walls made with brick and stone (similar to the oldest church in Cortes de Arges).
