The architecture is a must-see in Sofia. It is really magnificent. Around the church, there is a small open air market selling antique, painting and souvenir etc. More

Incredible architecture but in need of some TLC. Interior very dark makes almost imposible to really appreciate the frescos. Photographs not allowed but easy to walk around it at your leisure. The church is of recent vintage, and the interior is dark, smoke stained and not in great shape. The frescoes are damaged and one imagines that, in time, a lot of work will need to be done to restore it. The biggest church in Bulgaria. Murals inside needed restoration the last time I was there because of the smoke from the candles the murals look darker. Yet a must see. Practicaly in the city center, church Alexander Nevski lies on big plateau and looks like someone drop it off from space. Easy to find and worht a visit it represents maybe the most popular sight of Bulgarian capital. More
