There are a lot of forgeries to be honest within the few antiques on display. However, the icons and paintings are really good quality and probably the best selection that we came across in Bulgaria and reasonably priced if you haggle hard. I wouldn't bother with the icon shop in the cathedral crypt, which were severely over priced.

Walking through the Alexander Nevski Square there was a market with a difference.....?????? Along the pavement there were many people selling WW2 memorabilia, Grenades, Shell cases, Pistols, Knives. You name it and it was probably there somewhere. I was astounded to see such things on display and for sale. Had I known that I could walk straight through Heathrow I... More

In this market you will find many antique and painting stands mostly from the 2 world war . Personally I did not find anything interesting to buy but the sellers themselves were very interesting people.you could See that they are Bulgarian veteran.

Why buy magnets and postcards and other usual souvenirs when you can purchase original items from long ago and take a piece of Bulgarian history back home?! I personally love to mingle with the folks at flea markets and learn a thing or two so this was nice. Unique soviet pieces, handmade toys, old rings etc etc at low prices... More

There was some really interesting pieces of art and antiques alongside other stalls that had a load of old tat. Basically it was a flea market with gems and rubbish all set out together. Personally I wasn't that keen on the throwing stars hunting knives and other weapons but if you are a collector and know about these things you... More

I am not sure if I just got a bad day, but not many stalls offering much the same things. Fun to browser perhaps, but stall holders not really bothered about selling or bartering. However, some nice parks and buildings nearby.

The flea market near the big cathedral has many antique and painting stands. Their price are fare and not very impressive from the ones in the stores. However, I found it quite interesting for the people who want to buy paintings from the local painters. Although they are not famous, you can buy original for relatively agreeable price. They do... forget about bargians as flea market would suggest. On this sunday morning a few stalls were settling memorabilia of the Russian Heritage at horrendous prices ( set up for tourists), I tried a few time to bargain but there was no chance for a discount so I walk away.

This is probably one of the most unique flea markets i've visited, please note I do not claim to be a flea market expert. There are probably 30 vendors who sell mostly used or old items. You can get your russian style fur hats, knives, army flasks, war medals etc. not your usual tourist fare and intersting to see what's... More
