sarajevo is one of my favourite places i have travelled. The old town is a treat to walk around in and see how very diverse sarajevo really is. walking around you can still see some of the damage from the brutal siege at sarajevo. If you get a chance to visit sarajevo and the old town i really recommend it

This looks like a quit relaxed town. Very traditional people mixed up with young and dynamic people. The old town as well the modern city and shoppingscenters make this town to a ideal place to be.

Great for shopping, architecture or just walking and browsing, watch out if you drive, the roads can gridlock at rush hour times

With the newer areas of town you could be in any European city but the alleyways of the old town are really fascinating with the little shops, restaurants and shisha cafés. Especially atmospheric at night when all lit up with the call to prayer in the background.

Today’s Sarajevo is still home to some of the best examples of Ottoman architecture, with colorful street-scapes lining the river banks. And yet beyond this seemingly laid-back and peaceful facade, lies the ghosts of its haunting past. Around the city, you will spot communist-era apartment blocks which remained riddled with bullet holes from the war, their surfaces pitted like sand... More

Evening is the best time to visit the Stari Grad. The people watching is amazing. It seems like everyone is out for a stroll, a coffee, and an ice cream. Just find a good café table and watch the world go by!

I stayed at a hostel right in the center of Stari Grad and it was so lovely being able to just step outside and enjoy the Bosnia/European everyday-life. There are so many famous attractions in this area and so many nice restaurants and bars. I spent a whole day just casually walking through this part of Sarajevo and it was... More

Sarajevo's old city center does not look like anything we had seen before mainly because it is a fascinating mix of buildings, cultures and people. Old and modern with a great history of mixing cultures and world changing events, this place is a place to go.

The Old Town is an interesting area to visit. There are many stalls selling traditional items, such as lovely copper coffee sets, as well as a range of food stores, cafes etc. One can purchase useful and attractive 'mementos', rather than the typical types of mass-produced souvenirs. For example: hand-painted plates and bowls, and colourful scarves / pashminas with intricate... More
