I stayed at a hostel right in the center of Stari Grad and it was so lovely being able to just step outside and enjoy the Bosnia/European everyday-life. There are so many famous attractions in this area and so many nice restaurants and bars. I spent a whole day just casually walking through this part of Sarajevo and it was... More

Sarajevo's old city center does not look like anything we had seen before mainly because it is a fascinating mix of buildings, cultures and people. Old and modern with a great history of mixing cultures and world changing events, this place is a place to go.

The Old Town is an interesting area to visit. There are many stalls selling traditional items, such as lovely copper coffee sets, as well as a range of food stores, cafes etc. One can purchase useful and attractive 'mementos', rather than the typical types of mass-produced souvenirs. For example: hand-painted plates and bowls, and colourful scarves / pashminas with intricate... More

There is a lot of variety in the Old Town. There are several mosques and churches which mutually respect each other. There are Muslim restaurants that do not serve alcohol and Christian restaurants that do. I enjoyed food from a French bakery and baklava from Egyptian and Turkish ones. There is a mix of Ottoman, Viennese, Soviet, and modern architecture.... More

A very surprising little labyrinth of streets and great little restaurants and shops. We spent most of our time down in the old town, including a walking tour which was fantastic.

Liked the cobblestone streets and alleys. The coppersmith alley was very unique. Definitely no to be missed. Great eateries there too.

We were really surprised by the contrasting elements in Old Town. The feelings on the street begin with Oriental and Turkish feelings and flavours - the restaurants, the coffee houses and the dishes. This area is where you are likely not to find alcohol. Then comes a more Eastern European feel - alcohol and wine are served along with a... More
