One of the most typical landmarks of Minsk. Old soviet coat of arm and red (golden) star is still can be observed on the top of obelisk. Also pay attention of the details of head sculpture of Lenin on the side of the monument: Stalin's face also used to be there, but as his glory started to shade, the face... More

With an interest in Soviet architecture this was right up my street! At our visit there was a ceremonial changing of the guard. The displays around the monument are detailed and typically soviet. Read up what is so special about the portrait of Lenin on the soviet flag!

You have to visit this square to better understand and appreciate the history of Belarus. The tall dark statute with its associated fire provide a nice opportunity for those who like to explore communism by their eyes.

Built as a symbol of respect for the memory of the Soviet forces that defeated the Nazis on the eastern European theater in the Second World War, it serves as a visitor's starting point for a number of purposes. The children's attractions at Gorky Park stretch out by the river, the circus is not far away, and the Svislach River... More

A genuine Soviet era square still alive and kicking today in Minsk. Well worth a visit to soak up the grand buildings and the towering monument still decked with Lenin faces, Soviet stars (also on the lamp posts) hammer and sickles and other Communist logos. Look out for the eternal flame too, burning away in the middle of this busy... More

The monument to a Great Victory of Soviet army. When you are here - know, that a part of memorial is in the pedestrian subway - please, see it too. On the top of buildings it is written in Russian "The people's feat is immortal"

This "attraction" is worth visiting not because it's something beautiful, exciting and unforgettable, because it's none of the above compared to landmarks elsewhere. This place is worth visiting to see a piece of Minsk history and Belarusian people in general. The monument in the center of the square is dedicated to the WWII victory of the soviet people. It is...
