Highlands Museum and Discovery Center is a surprise if you are looking for interesting articles of the past. Several unique displays provide many interesting looks at items and scenes from the earlier years of Eastern Kentucky and the Ashland area. Nice place to take the kids for a learning experience and a nice way to spend a couple of hours... More

The Highland Museum located in a portion of the former Parson's Department Store is a great venue for events. The enlarged photographs and the ever-changing presentations are great nostalgic reminders of the past yet the museum has progressed to be a part of the present and the future. The gift shop has a number of items reminiscent of the area... More

Great to get a membership this allows you to visit other museums around the U.S beside here. Rainy afternoon with kids keeps them entertained for some time. Kept nice and staff friendly.

The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center is located in the heart of downtown Ashland. As of this writing, they are promoting an exhibit featuring the contributions made by the people of northeastern Kentucky during World War Two. Uniforms, newspaper covers, and captured equipment from Germany and Japan are part of the display. On permanent display is the Country Music Highway,... More

This museum is very small, but very entertaining! Nice little exhibit of local country music. A interesting place to visit when your looking for something to do on a weekend afternoon!

Did not visit the museum, because I could not find a place to park. I circled the block several times and found all the metered spaces occupied and every other space designated for other businesses. I just said 'forget it' and moved along to my next destination. Their website needs to reflect the lack of parking and suggestions where to... More

Great little gem here in Ashland Kentucky. Lots of very interesting exhibits and lots of memorabilia from local singers such as Keith Whitley, The Judds, Billy Ray Cyrus and a few other local people. They also have a wonderful tour in the month of October called Dining with the Past. It is a neat and very informative cemetery tour that... More

My mom and I both enjoyed this museum and thought the cost to get in was very reasonable, $5 per person. It had a lot of information on the local country artists from Eastern KY. They also have a new section on space exploration that was well done. The basement area had a number of hands on displays for children.... More

Went on the annual dinner and walking tour of the Ashland Cemetary and found it to be interesting and informative. The tour guide, Jim Epling, was full of knowledge of the locals who were a great part of the history of Ashland, Ky. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know who lived here and what has happened in... More
