but nothing special. The city has many green areas, this is one if not the most important, but sadly in 2014 it seems that urban life does not care for those great assets anymore. the shopping malls are the new symbols of some social life. Sad.

In regards of general information about the park and the sorrounding area, Casasarandi´s review is very complete, but in regards to the present conditions and environment I agree 100% with Oldtravelinggolfer comments. The geographic location of the park is excellent, but unfortunatelly the city officials and the people in general do not take care of their parks, historical buildings, etc.

An older park near the rambla. It can be called 'quaint'. There is a farmer's market on Sundays. The park can get quite crowded and is recommended that you don't go at night. It is a shame to see the number of parks in Montevideo that are just not getting the care they need. A lot of broken things, park is... More

The charming park is named after a famous Uruguayan writer whose monument is one of many in the park – look out for Confucious' overlooking the beach and Neptune next to a stream. Stroll the park during the day with hundreds of mate-drinking locals. Hire a pedalo and paddle around the tiny lake. The waterside funfair (juegos mecanicos) is a... More

The park is full of dogs with their owners, taking walks and playing. There is a lake and the park is just one street from the rambla and very close to the casio

We went on a Sunday afternoon and had unfortunately missed the live music/theatre being performed near the arty market stalls. There's a permanent kids entertainment area with fairground rides on one side of the park and another for older kids and adults on the other side. Lovely atmosphere, but sadly, like many places in Montevideo, lots of litter and landmines... More

I went there in a sunny Sunday afternoon and there there was plenty of people of all sorts, young couples, housewifes with their children, parents and children, old people, middle class, low-middle class. Is it located in front of Playa Ramírez and of a large roll-skating pool and have also the Parlasur Building at its right edge. The Rambla was... More

Designed in the first years of the 20th century, some of its trees are really decades old. A lake, avenues for walking, fountains, sculptures. It also houses an amusement park (which does not get in the way of the "green" part of the experience) and is on the edge of a beach, Playa Ramírez. To be quite honest, a do... More
