It was delightful walking around Montevideo’s Ciudad Vieja, watching the locals and the tourists soaking up the Old City’s charm and sophistication. One could spend a week traversing its narrow streets and still find something new and exciting to observe or to experience. Each Saturday morning, artisans and artists gathered in Ciudad Vieja (down on calle Sarandi). My son and I had a wonderful time even though we arrived a bit late. Ciudad Vieja (Ancient City) combines an amazing history and a great present. You can walk during the day streets made of "adoquines" (stones) and enjoy several historical buildings such as El Cabildo, La Iglesia Matriz, El Club Uruguay, La Plaza Matriz.
