One of the "must do" in Montevideo. Very good place to eat and buy souvenirs at the street. Some street arts are shown at the weekends.

This lovely old building has been converted into a place to eat meat. there are over 20 restaurants each one boasting of having more cuts on the open hearth brazier than the next one. Some of the classier joints have added Lamb and suckling to the normal fare of beef. The locals can eat a lot of meat, but it... More

Not sure why this is down as Shopping in TA - when we visited it late afternoon, it was all restaurants. We sat at the bar counter at Veronica's & watched it all happening. Scrumptious baby beef & grilled salmon thank you. Wonderful atmosphere. Yes, it's full of tourists, but we loved it! WARNING: Restos are open 11am to 6pm... More

The mercado is a cool place to walk through and maybe get a drink but I have not had good luck with the food there. If you're in Ciudad Vieja it is absolutely worth walking through but from my experience and that of friends is that all the restaurants are overpriced, the food is mediocre at best and the wait... As my title stats, if you like food, drinks and a great atmosphere this place is for you! Plenty of asado, wine and the bustling port makes this a must do in Montevideo. Also, grab a bottle or 2 of medio y medio, we certainly had plenty!

Located at Cuidad vieja, it attracts turists like flies, and turists are treated like them. Overcharged dishes, only meat and french fries or unsalted rice. You have to pay IVA, service, bread...i asked for some salad and got a tomatoe, cut in 4 parts....not worth eating there, and i am not difficult!

Great atmosphere with handicrafts etc, but lots of choice of food. Ate here twice and enjoyed both times. Once at a bar counter, and another with colleagues. It is touristy, but so pleasant and feels very authentic.
