My mom and I stopped in for a tour of Teatro Solis on a trip we took to Montevideo last year. I wish I had written this review sooner! The theater is absolutely beautiful, and the visit was made better by the tour we took. Teatro Solis offers tours in many languages, but unlike many places, the tours were given... More

If you're on a cultural tour of Montevideo, Teatro Solis is a must even if you only have 20-30 minutes. The tour is only $2 and the theatre is an architectural treasure. Nightly shows also very affordable. Check website ahead of time as they don't let you tour during rehearsals.

The tour of Teatro Solis is worthwhile as you will not only get to see the facility but also get a narration of the history and significance of the theater. For $40 URS (just under $2 USD) each person for tours in English, it is worth the time and money. Our family of five decided that we were interested in... More

If you're by Montevideo, check the program of Teatro Solis. COmdy, Drama, Opera, Concerts, you call it. Prices are afordable (i.e. not like the Met), so you can get a nice private balcony. They have shows mostly everyday, with great professional performers from the National Scene. Besides the plays or concerts, the ambiance of the theater is beautiful, acoustics are... More

Guided tours are offered in Spanish or Portuguese, cost UYU 20 (USD 1) and are 30min in length. Covers the exterior, the auditorium and a smaller stage. While the tour was good and had ample time to take photos, the building itself is relatively small, so there wasn't as much to see as other theatre tours I've taken. As of... More

The Teatro Solis is a richly decorated theater in downtown Montevideo. It lacks the grandeur and magnificence of the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, but the tour guides make up for this by being upbeat and charming. Visits are free on Wednesdays.

We did the guided tour and it was amazing. I strongly recommend. I did the tour in Portuguese but they have Spanish (of course) and English available. You can do the Tour and go for lunch at the Mercado.
