Alberto took me on a "private" tour in the rain this week (no one else showed up!) he was extremely knowledgable about I the city, its history, and as a US expat, Was able to draw Parallels between the cultures and histories. Great loop expertly took us through all the major points of interest, including some off the beaten path... More

Alberto, our guide, did a great job of explaining the history of Montevideo and the port area specifically. The 3 hour tour turned into 4 and a half hours as we indulged in a Mate and some goodies. Alberto answered our many questions and his answers were in depth and there was nothing he didn't know. He speaks perfect English... More

Alberto is a wonderful tour guided who is prompt, reliable, polite and very knowledgable of Montevideo in both its history as well as its geography. As he was born in United States, his English is excellent. The walking tour is very interesting and well worth the price. We highly recommend this tour guide--you won't be disappointed.

I did the ciudad vieja tour w my girlfriend and we were very pleased w Alberto. He's originally from ny, so his English is obviously perfect. The tour was a nice mix of history and present day relevance, and Alberto had the answer to every question we asked.

If you are on a cruise, this is a great tour to take, as Alberto meets you just a 5 minute walk from the port area and most of the walking is in the area. He was great about answering emails promptly and providing information. My husband isn't a very good tourist so walking with him was more like being... More

Agree with previous reviews. This is an interesting tour of the old city undertaken by Alberto who is a very pleasant young man with a great knowledge of Montevideo. The only downside was the rain which continued for much of the 4 hours we were with Alberto. We had no problem locating the meeting point as Alberto sent us specific... More

So, we prepaid for this tour on pay-pal prior to arriving by ship in Montevideo on 12/31/14, New Years Eve. Alberto, our guide, is a very professional young man who acknowledged our reservation by return email and provided meeting instructions for the day of the tour. We were to meet him behind the fountain in Plaza del Mercado. So, from... More

We had reserved our tour in advance, as it would be a port call for our ship, and had been communicating with Alberto, who turned out to be our guide for the tour. We were confused by where the website said to meet, and were looking for an actual square, or large plaza, when it turned out to be just... More

What a great walking tour of Montevideo! Just what we where looking for! Alberto helped us to see and understand all that was possible about Montevideo in a couple of hours! We learned a lot about the history and culture of Montevideo and Uruguay. We loved the old town area! Wish we'd known more about parking our car before we... More

I found this walking tour to be average, since Alberto, the guide (who is a very nice person by the way), did not seem very excited about it, spoke with a low tone voice and kept forgetting to tell the dates of historic events. Besides that there was not much context to the explanations, which were a little brief.

Alberto R, Owner at Ciudad Vieja Walking Tours, responded to this review

When you visited, the area we toured before going to la Ciudad Vieja is called el Prado which is rich in history from Montevideo's glamorous past. I'm sorry I did not tell enough stories of the mansions that line the streets of the neighborhood. Your comments serve as a reminder for me to project my voice. Thank you! More
