Nice visit with hundreds of locks in a such small fountain. If you are walking nearby, the visit is worthy. Lockers are sold near the fountain if you want to have yours.

It's a landmark and where locals and tourists meet, but beyond that, I don't see investing more than ten minutes here. However, there is a nice native crafts store right next to here. Called in English, 'The fountain of padlocks', everyone knows where this meeting place is.

I came across this accidentally and only later realized it was a "site." I am single and this kind of thing is sad for me, but even if I was with a partner, I do t know if I would do this. However, it's very well taken care of, and for me. The best thing about it, is it helped... More

Fountain located downtown at the corner of 18 de Julio and Yi. It kind of appears out of nowhere as you're walking by, as it's on the sidewalk. It's surrounded by a fence in which lovers have placed various types of locks. I was there on a Saturday morning and was the only one taking photos of it. Worth a... More

Located in the corner of the main Ave. 18 de julio and Yi street is this fountain, which is called the fountain of paddlocks, and the story is that the bar of the corner, a well known one in Montevideo (Bar FACAL), bought this fountain and had it stored for quite a while until they put it out. Around the... More

Its one of those really touristy things to do, but if thats your thing cross it off your list and go! Its not hard to spot...its right on the main street on the corner. I ran into it accidentally. The same type of lock and love is in Paris, basically the same idea.

You're walking along 18 de Julio Ave and then you come across this small fountain with an iron fence. The fence is absolutely covered with locks with names/intials on them. The legend tell that if you put a lock there you'll come back to the fountain and the love will last forever. That's the legend, but the fact is that... More

You hear about cool things like this, like shoe trees or gum walls, so how nice to be surprised by a fountain surrounded by locks (of love). It's on the main walking street, so if you are walking towards the old town you will pass it, and it's small, but maybe take a second to reflect on all the love,... More

quite an interesting fountain covered with hundreds of padlocks. Some of them look like they might be 80 years old. Before you look at all the locks make sure to turn around 180 degrees from the street directly behind the fountain to the small icecream and churro stand to check out the great eats. Of all the many many ice... More

It's great if you are a tourist and you are in love to put your personal histories on it! Best street in the downtown!
