If you are going to Plaza Independencia, just walk for 5 minutes here and go on. It is only a regular fountain. Do not waste tour time, there are more interesting things to see in Montevideo.

Dirty, decaying, and full of homeless people this square is best avoided unless you are a local on a short cut. The is an ineteresting fountain made of horses, which is quite interesting, but you will probably be mugged while you watch it. Stay aways

Half way between “Plaza Cagancha” and “Plaza Independencia”, this square occupies a whole hectare, from “18 de Julio” to “Colonia” and from “Rio Negro” to “Julio Herrera y Obes” streets. It has two names: “Plaza Fabini”, from an engineer and politician named Juan Pedro Fabini (1876-1962), who was a high rank official in the “Municipio de Montevideo”, and also “Plaza... More
