A bit of a tough climb but certainly worth it. The views are amazing. Best to stay at Machu Pichu for the night then be the first up when it opens.

We booked the 7-8am entry slot to climb the Huayna Picchu Mountain. The day before we also climbed the Machu Picchu Mountain in about 4&1/2 hours. The climb itself is somewhat challenging but yet quite safe. One part of the climb involved ascending up a very steep part while holding on a rope. Sounds difficult but a few senior travelers...

If there is one thing is this world that I would recommend everyone to do before they die, it is to climb Huayna Picchu. I can honestly say, this is the best time I've ever had in my life for so many reasons. I loved that it was a challenge! It is definitely strenuous and you get short of breath...

We completed the climb to Huayna Picchu on May 4. We did the 10am hike. The weather was good - cloudy to save us from the hot sun, but it didn't rain. The hike is not dangerous - it is just steep as you near the top, and there are stairs almost all the way up. I did use my...

It's pretty narrow in some parts, which does make it a little scary if you don't like heights. Going up was ok but coming down was not so nice in parts - especially where it was wet from the rain. If you are tall you might not be able to get through the cave part to get to the very...

My husband and I were out of shape and we were only in Peru 5 days so the altitude was a challenge, but we made it to the top! It took us an hour and a half to climb up and 45 minutes to come back down with photos and rest stops. The most steep spots on the hike have...

Agreed with all - go early, it's awesome, it's worth it.
While it's all stairs, it's tough and steep and scary. Especially the last part - you are completely exposed to a 3,000 foot drop - very scary. It takes some people 2 hours, but others 3 1/2 hours - so you need to make sure to have enough time...
