This was hands down my favorite part of visiting Lima. Everybody comes to see the bones in the crypt, many of them arranged into decorative patterns. But the rest of the site was just as interesting. The Monasterio de San Francisco in downtown Lima compares quite favorably in terms of beauty, architecture, and art to the churches and monasteries I've visited in Europe. It's only about two short blocks from the Plaza Mayor. The interior courtyard is pleasant and refreshing, and I wished I could've just stayed and hung out there for awhile. There are all... more
