Truly enjoyed this small group Shanty Town and City of Kings Tours. As others have noted, the Shanty town tour gets you up close and personal to Peruvians that live far different lives from the Lima Miraflores residents. In spite of their poverty, the shanty town residents were friendly, smiling, and welcoming as we toured the market, passed by the their... More

I took two tours with Haku - the half-day city tour and the all-day Pachacamac Pyramid's Sanctuary + Shantytown (Villa El Salvador). All these tours were all interesting and informative, and best of all the proceeds contribute to the community - and nowhere is there more visible than in the Shantytown. One warning however: Some of the walking tours can... More

My wife and I were going to be spending about five days in Lima for a short holiday and wanted to do some day trips outside of the city. I did a quick google search and came up with a few options, one of which was Haku Tours. I really liked the fact that their profits went to support charitable... More

Went on the Reality Tour last weekend with a great walking tour of the palaces, squares and parks of downtown Lima in the morning and a truly unforgettable tour of a shanty town in the afternoon. Both were extremely educational and well done and really allow one to see the two faces of Lima. Edwin, for the city tour, and... More

My husband and i did the shanty town and city of kings tour on our first day in Lima. Our tour guide was Jose and we absolutely loved it. Although the city of kings was really interesting and full of history, the Shanty town was our highlight. I wasnt really sure what to expect but meeting the locals and getting... More

I'm not sure that I can find the right words to express the gratitude I feel toward Edwin and Haku Tours for the incredible experience I had visiting Shanty Town. I am sure however that I've never met a community that was more proud of their town than the beautiful people here. I hope that the visit was reciprocal in... More

My wife and I did the shantytown tour with Edwin and it was the most unique tour of our lives. We met a community of people who live, I am sure, far below the poverty line and yet seemed happy, hard working and very happy to meet us and to share their day with us. The tour left us with... More

What a great way to start off a trip in Lima, Peru, with a shantytown tour of a section of 'Villa El Salvador' - a town of people that really take care of one another; a town of hidden handicraft, artisan, culinary talent; a town with very little to no material wealth, but the hardest working people you'll ever encounter.... My wife and I recently had a "hands on" cooking class in Lima. My wife, who ran a cooking school for several years, could not have been more impressed. The tour of the local market to procure our ingredients and explanation of the various items was superb. We made an excellent Ceviche for our lunch. We would highly recommend this for... More
