There was a commotion when we were there. The area was closed by the police since there were news of an impending rally in the city center. Good thing we were able to take photos prior to the police arrival. Would advise coming there early as precaution for the typical going on in that city.

So much to see and do here. Some of the areas outside the obvious boundaries of the historical center might be a bit hazardous so watch out, but here it's safe. This along with Miraflores area and the pyramid are the three must visit places of Lima.

Lima has so much charm. It is city with lots of contracts and I think it is important to mention this. The Historic center is one of the biggest ones (if not the biggest) in Latin America. Still work needs to be done to fully recover you can get a good impression. Colonial architecture is just amazing. Wooden balconies which... More

Lima is one of those places where u have to take off running. It's so fast paced and crazy wild but yet holds an element of beauty to it. Make sure to look both ways when crossing the road, and double check too!!! Road rules are a rare thing here. Also be careful of ur belongings, being a tourist you... More

Although it may be the "historical Center" there's alot more going on here with many of the old buildings now filled with shops and restaurants and competing vendors outside. In addition to admiring the architecture, it's a great place to grab a bite to eat or shop for a souvenir to take home. Be prepared to spend some time here.

There is no real oldtown perse. Quite a few old baroque buildings around the main square area, but mostly shops and zillions of restaurants. For a good deal on food, go to Norkey's

The architecture in the old quarter of Lima is well worth exploring and you need a few days just to see the highlights (including sampling the local food - try to find where the locals eat and enjoy one of the set menus, which are often 3 courses and a fruit drink for under $10). We praticularly enjoyed a guided... More

Lima has lots of gorgeous architecture, great if you're into photography. The vibe is lively and upbeat, and there are loads of places to rest in the shade with a cool drink or stop for a bite to eat. It is a great place for just strolling around and soaking up the views.

Great area to walk around and see Lima's past. Visit historic buildings and admire the architectural facades.
