Historic centre is Lima is definitely worth a visit during the day. Many old building, with the spanish influence surrounding the two main squares. We visited a couple of churches and the most impressive was Monasterio San Francisco. The paintings and catacombs were very interesting. Changing of the guard at the palace is also worth watching. If I remember correctly... More

What a mixed bag! You will find mother and child pickpocket teams, old women carrying baby alpacas, and a wealth of other characters in central Lima. A cool place to visit is the main market. Here you will find stalls that make the absolute best fruit smoothies you'll ever taste. We were told by our guide that all produce arrives... More

I love the buildings , everything was clean and very nice preserved. there is a lot of people , so you need to be careful. Also there is a lot traffic, but you can walk by streets that are not that busy.

The Visited the Monasterio de San Francisco and were impressed with the many icons that were found in the various displays. The lavish metalwork and the carvings were very impressive. We also visited the catacombs and had a look at the bone collections there. The bone selection process described by our guide was impressive. We left this site with a... More

We toured on a busy Mother's Day, however, this seemed to be a nicely restored and lovely area of Lima.

I think one needs to stay longer to experience the atmosphere of the city - especially the white mist that descends on everything. I needed more time to try the cuisine that they say in amazing. Lima was just a stopover on my way to Cusco.

This is the heart of the Spanish colonial hertitage with lots to see by foot. The main plaza features the Cathedral and the Presidential palace as well as well preserved buildings from the colonial era. San Francisco monastery is just off the plaza.

The centre of Lima is marked by it's original colonial architecture with the cathedral at its centre. There are also several impressively balconied buildings in the surrounding streets and some handsome sixteenth century churches. Also tucked away are some interesting Art Deco buildings. The block layout is also quite easy to navigate and there are plenty of places to eat... More
