The city centre is beautiful and very well kept. It is also very easy to walk in and very safe. Worth the visit!

Go for the many historic buildings in the area like the home of the president, the city hall and the fountain. The fountain is important, in my opinion, because once or twice a year it flows with pisco sour instead of water. The pisco sour is the national drink and on that day there is a length of time that... More

I did a little taxi tourism while attending the climate conference COP 20 - ironic really, given the subject matter, which I could comment on given the bad public transport, traffic congestion and pollution - but I digress. Alfredo my helpful driver took me from San Borja and back for 60 sol, and drove me a few times round the... More

Much of Central Lima is historic in terms of the architecture, one problem is that it is not very clean in terms of the streets and one must be careful of your surroundings in regards to crime, especially in the month of December.

This is a fantastic city to see with all it's history and architecture everywhere. We used a tour guide and I would recommend it to anyone who really wants to see the most important locations and steer you to the safe locations. We found the city to be very friendly and safe to tour during the day. We were not... More

We had a full day in Lima on a Saturday and walked the historic center for most of the day (and it is not in San Isidro as the listing here says). We followed the walking tour proposed in the Lonely Planet book and we finished the tour in Chinatown which had more people there that I even ever saw... More

The center of Lima is a UNESCO designated world heritage site. It is beautiful, great architecture. Safe during the day, don't know about at night, ask your local lodging about that.

We toured Lima with our tour guide from Cultural Immersion, We really recommend Cultural Immersion. Their tour guides speak good English, are very knowledgeable and are very warm people who want to make the tourists happy. In the main square of Lima we observed a procession for the Virgin Mary. Peruvian people from various villages danced in the streets to... More
