As a history lover, I loved every aspect of this trip. While Lima can be a dangerous city, like anywhere, pay attention to your surroundings and you will be fine. Be sure to see the Museo de Oro, the Museo de Santa Inquisicion Lima. While there I had a pair of shoes handmade, custom fit. I would go back again... More

The colonial heart of Lima's historic center is a fantastic display of Spanish colonial architecture. The archbishop's palace in particular is insanely extravagant, especially the carved wooden balconies. One does not have to venture far, however, for this colorful colonial backdrop to instantly turn into a haphazard, downtrodden area known for high levels of violence. Neighborhoods around the historic center... More

The centre of Lima is home to some wonderful buildings such as the Cathedral; an imposing structure with two towers and the Archbishop's Palace which has beautiful wooden carved balconies and quite an ornate facade. If possible also visit at night to see the buildings lit up. The centre piece of the square is a bronze fountain. When I visited... More

The city is extremely chaotic, advice to move (if you stay in the center) on foot. The plaza de Armas is very beautiful and old buildings with traditional balconies of Lima are very striking. Raccomano a walk through the streets that run near the square.

Visit, walk and shopping, old buildings and churchs, reflections of historical epochs, a couple of hours is enough for travel in the streets.

Touring this area of Peru was not only interesting but it was educational as well. We love the history and the people. As mention by some of the reviewers, beware of the pick pockets, they blend well with the crowd, too bad too since most of the locals are great people.

I actually was born here and know this city very well, very much charm, Spanish Architecture, many places to eat, excellent shopping, (there are other areas for shopping but the center of Lima is for a different type of shopping, either for very classical men's suit, and they do a very good job, and plenty other type of things, a...
