The rainforest of Peru is a unique environment. A seasoned traveler, not a tourist, I expected to encounter some challenges. I had already been in Peru for two weeks, so I was past the usual bumps you encounter when traveling in South America. A friend and I booked a week-long excursion on an Amazon riverboat with a company based in... More

We viisted this place by a Cruise ( M/V Aria) and am not sure, how one can viist this place by any other means as there are no cities/ villages nearby. This will be one knd of experience you will get rarely in life. You will come in to close encounters with the mighty river, rainfall, the animals and birds... More

I traveled on the Ayapua, a historic steamboat, and we made many excursions in small boats to watch hundreds of exotic birds and animals in their natural habitat. Be sure to take good binoculars so you can search trees--they are not always easy to see! More

There are also very large... More

Enormous old trees, monkeys and birds, Traveled by dugout canoe with small outboard motor. A little disappointed because there is really not a solid tree canopy like I expected for a virgin rainforest, but it did not appear to have been logged. More

Got to stay with villagers at 20 de Enero. We were given the opportunity to go camping in the jungle, fish for piranha, and BBQ. Great experience with the locals! More
