Too spectacular for words, so I'll try to keep it short. It seems that many people do not stay overnight in Aguas Caliente, and therefore only spend half a day in Machu Picchu. Do yourself a favor, if you're coming all this way to see one of the wonders of the world, stay overnight in Aguas Caliente and spend an... more

A trek along the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu had been on my list of 'Things to do' for a long time before I finally managed to get there. It was truly amazing! The one and only way to arrive at Macchu Picchu is through the Sun Gate. early in the morning, grubby and a bit smelly from the three... more

Visited Macchu Piccu in October 09, incredible stonework that displays cultural dedication, beliefs and downright awe. Highly reccomend to see and one of the wonders of the world. Altitude sickness is common - be prepared. Drink water contantly. Inca Trail was extremely tough - even for the well trained hiker. Peru flatland is vertical!! And they like their steps!!! Stayed... more

There is a danger that a location's reputation raises expectations to unreasonable levels. Machu Picchu exceeded mine and was a truly wonderful experience. Despite its fame and the number of visitors, it was relatively easy to find some space for reflection and taking terrific photos. One other surprise is the manicured nature of the site. The area immediately around the... more

I have been in Peru for 3 weeks, including 4 days trekking the Inca Trail. The trail is spectacular, going through different environments, from high altitude mountains to the cloud forest. Along the trail there are several beautiful Inca remains, view points with great landscapes, colorful orchids,... And of course, all the efforts spent in the first three days are... more

We just returned from a great trip to Peru the highlight of which was a 4 day hike to Machu Picchu on the Ica trail. The trip was amazing - we had booked our trip with United Mice and they were superb! They were very well organized, our guides Jon and Steve were excellent, explained the history behind the ruins... more

I went with a coed group of 14 friends to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. We used the tour group Pachamama Explorers (www.pmexplorers.com) and they were fantastic! Throughout the planning process, their administrative people were so well organized and helpful. They were very receptive with emails and willing to accommodate all of our requests. They were also very... more

I went on the Inca Trail with Abroad Trekkers. I had such an amazing time. Everything was so well organized. When we arrived at the airport Katty from Abroad Trekkers was waiting to pick us up and transfer us to our accommodation. The next day we had our trek briefing in our hotel and the rest of our day was... more

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu has to be booked months and months in advance as it is one of the most popular hikes in the world. I strongly recomend to book with a really good trek guide. Mine was Peru Treks, probably the best guides in Cusco. Another is United Mice and so on. Do research first. If you've... more
