I went to Salinas this year and I have to say that the view was quite stunning! At Salinas, one simply walks along the salt pools all the way down to the Sacred Valley. I would recommend going in the late afternoon so that one can see the sun set on the valley in the distance while walking down alongside... more

During our visit to Cuzco, instead of doing the standard Sacred Valley tour, we decided to do a private tour with a guide to visit non- standard sites in the SV. Salinas de Maras is definitely something way unusual and worth a visit. The salt petres are terraced out on the mountain slope with an incredible channel irrigatory system used... more

We are visiting as much of the area as possible, so imgine our suprise as we come around the bend, and see all these salt pans from the top (where the salt leeches from the mountain) down into the canyon to the Urubamba River. It was nice to get the history about this area, and how the salt has flowed... more
