I must admit that my expectations were not all that high when entered what I expected to be just another church in a provincial Peruvian center, but I was delightfully surprised. An elaborate beautiful structure, not to be missed.

Found the church ok and did go in and check everything out nice historical church for the area with significant history to it, But when you traveled to do many cities you can become churched out, so for me its was ok and I did spend about an hour there.

I personally love old churches but this Cathedral was a testament to the Spanish crushing native culture. The audio tour describes it as the 'blending of cultures' but this just felt ignorant to me. It was very expensive and I would not recommend doing the tour. Visit during mass and it is free.

Not to be missed this church ornated in pure silver and with their enormous "cusqueños" paintings hanging on the walls! And full of history, too, with their sacred tombs of Spanish conquerors, inclusing that one from the bloody Pizarro, the Conqueror of Inca Empire, who was looking for the Eldorado and became, at the same time, the most incredible Inca... The cathedral can't be missed as is, but we happened to arrive in Cusco on Palm Sunday. Thus began Semana Santa, or Holy Week, and what a week it was. When we entered the cathedral it was already crowded. A mix of tourists and locals stood in awe of the Black Christ as musicians played, singers sang, and various attendants... More

This church is absolutely amazing they don't let you take pictures of the inside but it's worth every minute you go in there.

Gold everywhere! The church was beautiful, sure, but with such poverty all around it, how can teh church justify tying up so much wealth in ostentatious display? Kind of rubbed me up the wrong way.

Wonderful traditional cathedral, stunning silver alter. At night when it is lit up, on the outside you can clearly see all the intricate carvings. A gemm, don't miss it.
