I really liked the plaza, it's really pretty, super busy and a fun place to people watch. Though you will get accosted by sellers of every kind while you sit on the benches. You can typically waive them off. We found a cafe with a balcony overlooking the plaza and that was ideal - great view, food and drinks while... More

We visited Cusco on our way to Machu Picchu. Cusco is a lovely place. Such a busy place. This square is where everyone gathers to visit and celebrate together. The community was having a celebration when we were there and all the school kids were practicing their dances. They loved when people stopped to watch. at night the city looks... More

There always seems to be things going on in the square and it is a good kick off point for the rest of the city. We got to see a few demonstrations by workers when we were there. Peaceful ones I hasten to add

Beautiful plaza with conveinent shops for any last minute purchases you need - like a quality poncho or a knock off north face rain jacket ( i got mine for $50 vs. the $115 at the North Face store). The church here is definitely worth a visit. There are a ton of fascinating little details in the artwork that show... More

I have been there 3 years before and went there again last month. I wish I can take pictures of the night light with tripod. Unfortunately that they didn't turn the light on as usually.

The immediate Plaza de Armas has tons of restaurants, shops, and touristy sites. Make sure to venture outside of the main square by two or three blocks to see some awesome local restaurants and great souvenir shops.

The square is surrounded by architectural glory ! Greta's place for photos. There were a lot of restaurants and shops but some are definitely tourist traps.

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen! The gorgeous Cathedral is mind-blowing, and everything here is colorful and intriguing. You can feel the history around you, even breathe it in the air! I would go back here in a heartbeat. Visiting the church was the best part... thr immense backstory and the richness of culture... The title says it all. We made sure to return from our hike up Huayna Picchu and buy our lucky yellow underwear and necklaces in time for New Year's Eve in one of the greatest places to be at midnight. What a mad and crazy fiesta! Beer and vodka flowing everywhere, fireworks being set off right in the middle of... More

Just as quaint and lovely Cusco's old town area is, the center is a beautiful little place where tourists and locals descend to take in the warm Cusco sun in the day, and enjoy the almost ethreal feel when the lights turn on. Also important to take rooms which have a view of the Plaza.
