We decided impulsively to step out at night to grab some dinner. We reached the Plaza De Armas in Cusco and were pleasantly surprised to see the beauty of the place at night with lights, people, fireworks and the magnificent architecture of the plaza buildings and monuments. We just grabbed a coffee and sat outside on the steps of the... More
Loved this area of Cusco. The plaza was lively and colorful with people. Very nice gardens and well kept. Lots of laneways with shopping and restaurants. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Lovely, fountained center in Cusco with so many historical and beautiful cathedrals- excellent restaurants, Limo-236 Portal de Carnes- was a favorite- cerviche to die for! Favorite alpaca shopping- KUNA store- even had bed blankets! Kuna does not ship items so will need to ask at hotel for that service. The silver jewelry stores are too many to mention...and don't forget... More
After shopping around the square, we settled onto a bench in the Plaza de Armas and watched locals and tourists walk by for a while. Very pleasant place to get a feel for this wonderful area of Peru.

Not only is this a beautiful square, there are many churches to visit, crafts to hunt down, a tourist info center, off-street ATM and lots of people enjoying the square. During our stay, the square was even turned into a speedway for a car racing event. Wonderful to visit day or night and close to many of Cusco's other attractions.
