Our hostel is near to this Plaza. The day view is beautiful and relaxing. It gives us a nice feeling of Latin America!

On Good Friday we arrived to action aplenty in the Plaza. Ceremony involving armed services, marching band, flag raising and spectacular gun salutes. It was amazing. The following Saturday we were treated to village dance demonstration that were a lively spectacle. It was such a privilege to see the Peruvian culture so alive.

Pretty much the heart of Cusco, with the Cathedral at one side of the square, it is a popular place to stroll or sit in the sun during the day, and there are many restaurants around the square for dinner or lunch.

Busy, thriving location anchored by a central fountain. Stores, cafes and travel places are around this plaza. On one side is the imposing Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin completed in 1654. On this day there was a cultural festival with dancers and performers from all areas of Peru. There are usually many persistent vendors selling handmade clothing,... More

After the "official" tour, liked wandering on our own to check out the square and restaurants. Found a great little sweater shop to make my last purchase.

This is a great place to spend some time people watching and just strolling around. High concentration of shops and restaurants all around the area. Two large cathedrals dominate the square and make for great picture backdrops. The downside of the plaza de armas is that it has a lot of traffic and is crowded most of the day.

The plaza was so beautiful I had to sit around and spend some time. The cathedrals nearby completes the area. I loved hanging around the benches!
