I took 16 college students from Virginia Tech on the 4 day trek to Machu Pichu. Our guides, Urbano, Herbert, and Maribel, were fantastic. They related extremely well to the students. As this also had an educational /cultural component, the guides did a lot of impromptu teaching, especially about the Andean culture, from which they all came. Their English was... More

In December, my family and I travelled to Peru on a family adventure tour organised by Apus Peru. This was a modified version of a tour they had previously advertised, settled upon after extensive consultation with their rep, Emily. She was extremely helpful during the process - 15 itineraries worth! But more importantly, she was on the ball and willing... More

This was an excellent trek, characterised by a professional, well-run company and excellent attention to details - especially choice of trek staff. Urbano was probably the best guide I have experienced on a trek, & cook + porters etc were outstanding. This is definitely a tough trek - I calculated 11,500m in ascents and 12,000m in descents over the 12... More

In late October of this year, my husband and I (both in the cusp of turning 50) took on the challenge of the Choquequirao to Machu picchu 9 day trek. I had read that the Inka trail and Macchu Picchu had become far too popular. Choquequirao on the other hand is relatively quiet because it is a brutal 2 day... More

I have been on several treks around the world, and Peru was by far one of the best. I booked the 5 Day trek with a few friends in September 2014 with Apu's Peru. I can genuinely say that from start to finish we received an excellent service. I can highly recommend booking a trip with Apu’s Peru! A big... More

I signed up a group of 6 friends to Apu's Peru (which I chose due to it being listed as a recommend trekking company by Lonely Planet), and left the other 6 available spaces open for the public to join - we were joined by 4 other Americans, who were lovely and great fun! - doing so brought down our... Thirty years ago I hiked the classic Inca Trail; it was spectacular and uncrowded. Last summer we decided to do it again with my wife and three teenage children. After careful consideration we concluded that an alternative trek to Machu Picchu would be significantly less crowded, at least as beautiful and possibly more interesting. We started researching the various treks... More

Solid company and experience if you're looking for alternative treks in Peru… off the beaten path to remote, wild and unbelievable places. I didn't want to do the traditional inca trail because of the crowds. Apus Peru recommended this trek and we didn't see a single tourist. Passed through high Andean villages with great culture and views. First class service,... More

My wife and I did an overnight tour to Machu Picchu with Apus Peru this summer, and it was fantastic. Our guide William was very knowledgable, but more than that he was a very friendly and personable guy, and also very accommodating — it was a pleasure hanging out with him on this trip. Logistically, Apus has it down to... More
