Enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape of Peru on board of a luxury and magical way to travel between Cusco and the Lake Titicaca. Travelling in the Andean Explorer is a unique experience, a route between mountains, clouds, snow-capped mountains and puna finishing in the majestic Lake Titicaca. Its coaches involve you in an environment extremely decorated with the elegant style of Pullman trains of the decade of 1920. Its tourist shows, the 5-fork lunch, dining cars, observatory-bar car outdoors, among other attractions.

We loved every minute of our day on the Andean Explorer. It was fabulous. We went from Puno to Cuzco, and from the moment we arrived at the elegant station in Puno, it was all wonderful. A real journey of a lifetime. Anyone complaining about cost and conditions should try British Rail!! The train and meals were beautifully presented, the... More

Although this was one of our most expensive activities or way to travel in Peru and was a very pleasant experience and a welcome change to the busrides. Enjoying the spectacular views, and the bar, it was a real once in a lifetime thing to do.

We travelled from Cusco to Puno - this is definitely the way to go. Hassle-free & relaxing, sit back in the armchairs or observation car and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Andean highlands whilst being looked after by the ever-attentive staff. One of the most memorable parts of the journey was passing through Juliaca where the market traders pulled... More

From our research prior to going to Peru, this trip seemed just prefect for us to get from Puno to Cusco. We were not disappointed this train journey was one of our highlights of the holiday. The quality of the food, staff and the personal touches made it fantastic. Of course you had wonderful country side to view. The day... More

Although I had the most fantastic day on board with excellent service and spectacular views, I would like advise people to ensure they carry enough soles for all their needs. They do not accept credit cards and the exchange rate from dollars is not good. This may be contradicted by a member of staff! However an adventure not to be... More

After a looooong week in Puno, the train ride to cusco was like springtime after a long bleak winter. It took 10 hrs but I was wishing it would never end. After a 4 days of hiking Machu Pichu trail, the vistadome ride to oyantambo (sp) was a welcome return to civilization. Take the train anywhere you can in Peru,... More

We travelled from Puno to Cusco and whilst check in was a long snaking line out the door, we were processed quickly and on board a lovely wagon with large armchairs instead of the usual train seats. I was able to change to a more comfortable setting with just us 2 opposite one another and if you don't like travelling... More

If you try to travel from Cusco to Puno (or other direction), you should use the opportunity to go with the Andean Explorer from Peru Rail. Even as a flight is shorter, you should go by train as you have the whole day an exciting view to the Andean highlands. Never seen so impressive views. We booked the trip online... More

We took the Andean Explorer to go from Puno to Cuzco in August 2014. This train ride is a true luxury! Service was impeccable, food was decent and they had great cocktails. The highlight was of course the observatory car-bar, which allowed us to make the most of the fantastic scenery. The only (relative) downsides were the price and the... More
