Travelling in the Andean Explorer is a unique experience, a route between mountains, clouds, snow-capped mountains and puna finishing in the majestic Lake Titicaca. Its coaches involve you in an environment extremely decorated with the elegant style of Pullman trains of the decade of 1920. Its tourist shows, the 5-fork lunch, dining cars, observatory-bar car outdoors, among other attractions. « less

We loved this train trip: the train is very special, a little like the Orient Express in Europe. Nice uniformed staff helps you carry your luggage. You are seated at a table with a white tablecloth and silver cutlery. Lovely "waitresses" service Pisco Sour and other cocktails, and ask you to choose your dinner, which is included in the train... pisco sours at 11:00 am got the whole train going… everyone was super friendly and great food. Don't need the Hiram Bingham… this train was just as good!

My husband and I took the Andean explorer train from Cuzco to Puno during a honeymoon visit to Perú. The train is extremely luxurious; it kind of feels like you are riding a train in about 1890 or 1900. You'll sit in armchair-type chairs at a table with a tablecloth. Meals are served with china and real silverware; alcohol is... More

The Andean Explorer is possibly the best value-for-money luxury train in the world. At $139 (May 2014) for ten hours of pampered travel, with very comfortable seats, attentive service, good food and wine, some home-made entertainment, and a superb observation car (with bar and a demonstration of how to make a good pisco-sour), you can't go wrong.

We had an really good journey on the andean explorer. The views were stunning and the observation carriage enabled us to take some very memorable photos. The entertainment was good and encouraged travellers to get involved. The food and service was good, a really enjoyable way to get to Puno.

We took the Andean Explorer from Cusco to Puno and although it was 10 hours long there was plenty to occupy us, wonderful scenery, luxury seating, good food, entertainment on board and excellent service. We would recommend this train as it would be more comfortable than the alternative bus journey We arrived in Puno as darkness fell which was good... More

Comfortable, but 10 hour trip from Cusco to Puno is simply too long. Train is not heated or air conditioned, so depending on weather it can be too cold or hot. Observation car is fun and the rear is open air. Food is average, but service is very good. Would be great for 3-4 hour trip. Views are good, but... More

We took the Andean Explorer from Cusco to Puno, between our Inca Trail Trek and our visit to Lake Titicaca. What a great way to rest and relax after our walk! Think "Orient Express", comfort and elegance from a time gone by. The included food was delicious and beautifully presented. Portions were perfect for us, though additional menu items are... More

I had been recommended this journey by a friend and thank goodness I took her advice! This was a wonderful way to travel from Cusco to Puno...it was definitely a journey that was part of the holiday experience rather than interrupting it.
