Travelling in the Andean Explorer is a unique experience, a route between mountains, clouds, snow-capped mountains and puna finishing in the majestic Lake Titicaca. Its coaches involve you in an environment extremely decorated with the elegant style of Pullman trains of the decade of 1920. Its tourist shows, the 5-fork lunch, dining cars, observatory-bar car outdoors, among other attractions. « less

We pre purchased our tickets via the internet six weeks before our trip. We were going from Cusco to Puno, a ten hour train trip. The tickets were emailed to us and said 'depart Cusco', we didn't know that there were two stations in Cusco and even though we were an hour early to the station, we didn't realise we... More

This was simply awesome. Another spectacular journey from the Inca Capital Cusco to Pre Inca Capital PUNO by Andean explorer train. The train was filled with travelers across the globe enjoying the glass view of the landscape with an open observatory at the back of the train, Peruvian music and dance and a breathtaking journey enjoying the climb that goes... Fantastic ride. The views were spectacular and we especially enjoyed the bar wagon with its open end. The ride was super comfortable and the 10 hours flew by. I would love to take the train again!

We experienced a very well organized trip on the luxury train to Machu Picchu. Although the price tag is very high, it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Everything is included from start to finish. Only specialty drinks on the train are charged separately. We stayed at the Belmond Rio Sagrado hotel near Urubamba and had to take a taxi to/from Ullantaytambo... More

We had such a bad experience on our way back (2,5 hours delay) that 2 stars may even be too much. Add to that the 45km track from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo takes 2 hours, that just makes it ridiculous. The amount of people going in and out of Machu Picchu each day require a better connection then this outdated... More

This is probably the most interesting train ride I have ever had. Luxury train, replica of trains from twenties, travelling across the Andes with experiencing landscape from partially opened observation wagon, good entertainment... It's a pity that food wasn't on the level of the whole event. Be aware that due to the social turmoils in Juliaca or Puno train departures... More

We found this trip a little boring, I think it took about 10 hours and thought the train could go a little faster and reduce the amount of time it took.

Wow ! I would never have expected living such experience in this train. The organization was extraordinary and full of surprises : Andean bands, cocktail degustation and workshop, Peruvian clothes mode show etc. At the end we still wonder how the 10 hours passed so fast. On board the atmosphere is cosy, the seats comfortable, and you have access at... More

This is a lovely way to travel from Cusco to Puno. We had two options the train or a bus - both take 10 hours. The train provided superb comfort - although the chairs are a little like armchairs, they are comfortable. You can also get up visit the bar coach and the viewing car, with excellent open end. Food... More

The train is great. It has everything you need for a 10 hour ride, and the time flew by very quickly. They had a show, they have bar classes. The only minus is terrible food. Views are great and last cart which has panoramic windows are great also.
