We hopped on a bus tour which brought us here. We had no idea how close it was to our hotel. We walked back in the evening and it was beautiful as you could see the whole central town which was all lit up

The neighborhood of Yanahuara has old colonial buildings and small, cobblestone streets. I stayed in this neighborhood during my 10 days in Arequipa. It's a 10 minute walk to the center of Arequipa, walk toward Av Bolognese and take the path through the park along the river. Don't miss the Franciscan Convent and the Recoleta Museum.

Is one of the most touristic places in Arequipa where you can see all the city. Also, they have a lot of places to try the "frozen cheese" (typical food of Arequipa). You can get there by car or also take the city tour bus which is a really good option because they take you to a lot of places.... More

The yanahuara area is quite lovely, especially if you walk there from the plaza via the river. The mirador is nice, but nothing special. The view of the volcanos might be better in the morning, as it was cloudy when we went in the afternoon. We couldn't get into the church but the outside facade is pretty. I recommend yanahuara... Yanahuara is a short, under 2km walk from the Plaza de Armes. It supports the best views over looking Arequipa, of the mountain ranges and the volcanic back drop. It's a beautifully kept area with restaurants, a church, a large park and street vendors. Go for the postcard picture but stay for the atmosphere.

We are staying just a 4 minute walk from this incredibly beautiful plaza with gorgeous views of Chachani, Misti, and Puchi Puchi Volcanoes. We have spent just about every evening here watching the alpine glow during the sunset. A must see if in the area.

Once you reach it, the mirador provides a nice overview over part of Arequipa as well as Misti (?) - however, it is not as high as I expected and therefore the view was not as complete. Also, a restaurant on the side blocks the view towards the mountainrange.

The Mirador has a lovely view of Arequipa and Volcan Misti during the day but make sure you are here for the sunsets...they are magical! Mist changes color by the moment arranging herself in all shades of pink and reds as the moments go by. The Plaza is also a wonderful spot to sit, relax, people watch as you enjoy... More

Park area that overlooks much of Arequipa. Great view of city. Vendors usually set up around the small park every weekend. Some nice shops with quality goods near overlook point. Several good, small restaurants. Located along a small street that is next to the small church but runs away from the plaza a group of women (family unit?) set up... More

Totally over rated view point. Don't waste your time unless you are looking to fill your days with random things to do. The view of the volcano from the top of the cathedral included in your tour price is excellent. I will not go again.
