Free entrance always helps. We made it a point to try and visit all of the churches and they are all quite nice. Nothing too extravagant, but still, lovely.

This was structurally a beautiful plaza surrounding the church. Our daughter, who is a Peace Corps volunteer, did not recommend the restaurants around the plaza (see Crepsimo and Zig Zag) but it is a beautiful setting none the less.

For the visitor it was a wonderful church to enjoy mass and to enjoy the celebration of the Church's special occasion--an anniversary. Not an elaborate church but one seeped in history and sanctity.

Spent some time in here being shown around by a very helpfully young lady. At the time of our visit they were getting ready for a full scale concert with it felt like the orchestra rehearsing just for us. Had an interesting garden in a central cloister that we also spent some time enjoying.

When you enter the San Francisco Plaza you will be in awe of the internal beauty of this magnificent Church.Tour guides show you everywhere and are very informative.

Built in 1569 and restored in 1960, San Francisco Church is the centerpiece of San Francisco Square in Arequipa. It is only open in the evenings after 5:00 PM, or on Sunday mornings to look inside - there is a grand library there with over 20,000 volumes.
