The view is spectacular and the road to the Colca Canyon is filled with miradores, pampas to see vicunas and alpacas, pre-incan villages. It's worth visiting and highly recommended

Do the 2 days 1 night trip to the colca canyon.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND colonial tours!
PAY EXTRA to stay at a place called POZO DEL CIELO (it's worth the BEAUTIFUL/ELEGANT/SOLID sleep you will get).
BRING your camera, your binoculars, and your trekking shoes.
Best of all bring your dreams, because you will see them come to life in this...

First and foremost - this was an awesome trek. Prior to this trek I had only done guided tours and I am very comfortable saying you do not need a guide for this tour. However, because the route we took is a somewhat less popular trek, navigation can be a little unclear so here are our details. Hopefully they help....

Colca Canyon was beautiful, but we were too sick with altitude sickness to appreciate it. It is worth going to, but make sure you have altitude sickness prevention meds with you.
Excellent and very professional service. Guides seemed to enjoy their work and actually made the difference on our tour. Our guide "Luis Orlando" was especially recommendable.
we were lucky to have a very good guide Elfer and driver Edourdo The trip was very well organised. Elfer is a very charming man with a great knowledge I thank then also via this way

There are many outfits running tours from Arequipa - make sure you have a knowledgeable guide with good English and that you know exactly what is included in the trip. The journey there takes you through altiplano where you will see vicuñas, llamas and alpacas grazing in large herds.
They particularly like damp, mossy areas. The scenery is stunning. Our...
