Best in March

Highlight of our time in Peru, best to go in March when everything is still green. Go with Carlitos tours if you can and you will have a blast

Unfortunately, the morning we visited the canyon it was totally covered in mist, so we couldn't see much beyond the lookout and definitely nothing like the depth of the canyon. Negociate the price! In my group a few people paid only 90 S for all. Others paid 135 S for the same tour I did the two day hiking in colca canyon during the rainy season. The normal was was closed so we just went down the canyon and the next day up. It was only a touristic tour and... More

Listen to the details of tour operators. Condors like early mornings so get there before the masses who lie in and miss these magnificent birds. Pack for Antartica conditions I was freezing in my hostel the only available heatr already nabbed.

It can be done!! Don't let your operators tell you otherwise (they ultimately want to scare you and take your money). You will get far more out of it than any person doing a tour (unless you hire a private guide and then its 4 x the price). Do your research - ask in travel agencies for maps but don't... More

This was an amazing trip and on the way there you can see lots of animals, then the terraces look beautiful (such a history!) and the river landscape. The mountains were very green in the rainy season.
