An unfair title as there are also beautiful views, spectacular landscapes and a rural lifestyle that is largely untouched by the 21st century. Best to stay here for a few days rather than do a tiring and rushed trip from Arequipa. The condors are impressive and you get so close both when they soar over your head or sit preening... More

A nice trek. Although, I felt I had seen it all from the top prior to starting the trek. The view was pretty much the same. The river just kept getting closer on the downhill. I felt the same about climbing out. Same view. A great workout. Loved the Oasis. I would book lodging and do this on your own.... More

I went in the morning because that is when the condors were out. However, I would have given up the condors to be able to take good pictures of the canyon itself. Unfortunately, the road is on the side of the canyon which looks directly into the sun to view the canyon. You can see condors, pre-Inca terraces still in... More

The scenery was amazing, although the bus ride was a bit scary, since I'm not a fan of heights. But, you do get used to it. Colonial Tours made a lot of photo stops, to see vicuna, llama, alpaca, and to see many of the towns and people and magnificent views. The terraced farming, quinoa growing in fields....all fascinating. We... More

We did a 2 day trek into the canyon. A great experience with amazing scenery! Some tips: - Bring snacks, you don't get breakfast on the second day till you get to the top, which was really bad! We brought bananas, boiled eggs, chocolate, etc. - The track is very dusty! Maybe bringing a dust mask is a good idea.... More

Colca Canyon is a must-see on your trip to Arequipa! The natural beauty is amazing, and spotting condors at Condor's Cross is just icing on the cake. We did the 2 day/1 night tour (Illary Tours, Omar was our guide) and I would recommend this length of time for a decent tour. We stopped over in Chivay for relaxation, food,... More

The Colca Canyon is the second deepest in the world -- It is twice as deep as the US Grand Canyon. It was a wonderful experience to see the natural beauty of the canyon, the lakes, gorges, rivers, terraces, mountain burial sites and stops in some towns along the way. The condor outpost was of course one of the highlights.... More

A tough but fantastic track to do if you have time worst travelling in Peru. Condor pass is amazing with huge condors circling over the canyon. Truly worth a visit! Long final day trek out of the canyon with an early start, but all made worth while by the bottle of inca cola at the top and views of the... More
