We had a short time in Arequipa, and opted to do the 1-day tour that everybody advises against. We booked it through our hotel, and it was $25 per person- don't book on the streets, we saw similar 1-day tours being sold for over $150pp afterwards. A bus came and picked us up at 3am. I'm not sure what the... more

y son and I arranged a trip to the Colca Canyon through the helpful owner of the hostel we stayed out while visiting Arequipa. We took a minibus from Arequipa to Chivay with a handful of other curious “tourists”. The drive afforded all of us some outstanding views as we drove higher and higher into the Andes Mountains. In Chivay,... more

We did the 3day/2night cola canyon trek with Colca Trek Travel. It was a good mix of time spent driving, walking, swimming (hot and cold pools visited) and relaxing. This trip takes you away from the popular tourist spots. Our trip was a mix of spanish and english speakers which our guide Olivia managed well. We saw condors each day... more

Colca Canyon is a 3-4 hour drive from Arequipa. There are many agencies through which you can book a trip. It can be done as a one day trip, but be forewarned that the bus leaves at 2:30-3:00 AM and returns in the evening around 5 PM, which makes for a long day. These tours run $30-$50. One night tour... more

In June 2009 I did the Colca Canyon 3 day trek that I booked with Land Adventures out of Arequipa. Booking it from the states was easy and when I arived in Arequipa they had me and my 15 year old son ready to go. I cant say enough great things about our guide Carlitos Guillen. He made sure that... more

The resturant they take you to is 20/s for a bad buffet , dinner is bad, our tour guide decided he didn´t fancy doing the 2hr walk on the Itinary, so he didn´t and never told us that he... more

We weren't sure what to expect when we booked this hike on line. In fact, all my wife knew was that part of our 12 day trip to Peru was a hike and she needed to bring her hiking boots. I can only imagine what she was thinking at this point but I had warned her we weren't hanging out... more

If you go to Peru do not miss this. It is an amazing sight even without the condors, but they just make the experience even more amazing. more
