Very limited attraction. It was ok. If you are pressed for time, you can skip it. If you have teenagers I would recommend staying longer in Huachachina for some dune buggy, sand boarding experience, atleast you get to do something. The restaurants they take you to in the Reserve is also a tourist trap, bring a snack with you so... More

I thought this was really great. We could not get to Ballesta Islands because of rough seas, so this made for a great alternative. I have never been to the desert before, so it was very interesting seeing this one, especially since it is juxtaposed by the ocean. The views are really quite beautiful and it was really interesting seeing... More

Cool area that was once underwater. One of the most fascinating sights here is a red sand beach. The color of it was unlike anything I have ever seen. Worth going to check out

Its wonderful that Peru has made the Paracas Oceanside Desert into a preserve, but there's not a lot to see there. Extensive sand dunes, some sea rock formations, and a few birds are good to see if you have a couple of extra hours in the area, but the preserve does not compare with the Ballestas Islands cruise or the... What a beautiful paradise! I just hope it is not lost with the industry going on around it. It was interesting to note the boundaries of the park and how some of the coastline was not within the boundaries so it is about to be taken over by industry. There is an awesome little restaurant it is right at the... More

The Ballestas Island tours are popular but you will get more out of the trip if you stop at the new visitor information center at Paracas Wildlife Reserve. The story of the guano boom and bust was very helpful background info on the role the birds have played in the area's history. This area is not as well-known as Machu... More

This is not a must see, but is worthed the visit if you have couple of hours after Ballestas Island tour. I don't think a 2,5 hour tour is necessary. It is best to go around with private transportation to stop at locations you would like to enjoy the view and take beautiful pictures. The burgundy beach is impressive as... More

There are no shortage of guides in Pisco who will sell you tours for Paracas and the Ballesteros Isles, but if you head for the kiosk at the end of the plaza, far right corner from the church, these guys really know their stuff in any language! Kind, helpful and fun sam and co. know how to maximise your enjoyment... More

Hard to find a local agency - http://www.zarcilloconnections.com/ - best off. The price is not cheap but I have no regrets. First the beginning - left from Trujillo at 21.00 - Lima 6.00. Because of long distance trip some delay can be just awful and y reserved next tiket from lima to Paracas on 7.30 but the Bus was sharp.... More

I had an awesome feeling thinking that I am walking on a huge pile of sand and salt, that were some time ago the bottom of the ocean. The reserve is a huge desert made of trodden salt mixed with sand, with fossils buried in the sand which you can admire in some areas. The guide will tell you everything... More
