We parked at the highest point (Tres Cruzes) and hiked for about 1 hour from there. Good practice to get acclimatized if you are going to do any of the higher hikes in the volcano avenue. Beautiful view, beautiful vegetation. We saw some flowers you will never see anywhere else. Be careful with the descending clouds or you could get... More

A beautiful area of Ecuador, but you are at a high altitude. So different from the rest of the country. More

We went by bus too late in the day, insufficiently prepared for the cold, the terrain and the lack of nearby facilities and so we opted for a short, well marked trail near the visitor center. It was astonishingly beautiful, peaceful and well worth the physical discomforts (which could easily have been eliminated with better planning on our parts). More

This is a nice day trip or camping destination for those based in Cuenca who find they've got some time to spare. Note that a guide is very much recommanded because otherwise it's pretty easy to get lost. More

What a beautiful place well preserved in Ecuador. This is truly a national treasure. Flora and fauna abound and the hiking trails provide wilderness views and great photo opportunities. Fortunately we live very close and can go as often as we like. Try to chose a warm day as it can be quite cool at the top which is 13,000... More

A great place to hike in the altiplano, many icy lakes and interesting high altitude flora and fauna - including herds of llamas. There are some marked trails and the visitor center has maps and information, but be cautious about taking off on your own as it is easy to get lost. It can be cold and rainy, and be... More

A fun place to go for trout fishing in a pond, beautiful to drive through to see many waterfalls, or even for more adventurous a hike to see the many lakes. More
