I walk from my home to this plaza (park) often and always feel very relaxed when I am there. The park is very well maintained and is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. The setting between the new and old cathedrals is interesting and it is in the middle of El Centro (downtown). More

The plaza (park) itself is very nice. The problem is getting to it. Cuenca needs to make the street around the Plaza pedestrian only. All 4 sides are extremely congested with bumper to bumper vehicles, and because there are no emission standards at this time, getting there and breathing are extremely difficult. Not a place I would want to sit... More

This is the center of town, the place to go if you want to sit and watch all manner of people walk by. Families stop and have their pictures taken in front of the monument or on ponies, children get ice cream, the life of the city flows through. Catch your breath before going to the flower market, the cathedrals,... More

Located between the "New Church" (1800's) and the "Old Church" (1500's), the Plaza is alive with visitors as well as locals.During Carnival, there was a band preforming in the bandstand, children playing and families enjoying the gardens. It was Norman Rockwell-ish (a la Latin America). More

Encompassed by stately old buildings and two very impressive cathedrals, (the old and new), this park, with its central statue of Abdon Calderon, is an ideal place to take in the surrounding architectural beauty. The well kept gardens are serene; a lovely place to stop and reflect, or to enjoy an ice cream while relaxing on a shady park bench.... More

The Plaza is a very relaxing and comforting place to rest on one of its many benches and watch the people and regain your energy. As with all of Cuenca, it is very clean and there are people there constantly sweeping and picking up any piece of trash someone might "mistakenly" throw on the walkway. It is very well maintained...
