My flight back to US was late night so I had all afternoon free. I spent the most of afternoon in the park. I really enjoyed it. Walking in park was very refreshing.
I had rented a motor bike so drove it up here Sunday morning. It was a beautiful park. I walked around for a few hours and just enjoyed the great weather and sights. It was a very peaceful and relaxing morning.
This is a huge park covering thousands of acres, with spectacular views of the city and outlying areas around Quito. It is dog friendly and they are in abundance on weekends, along with hikers, bicyclists and lots of folks out for a BBQ. The views of the city from this vantage point are spectacular, as well as outlying areas such... More
This is the biggest park in a city in South America. It feels fairly wild, and it is quite easy to get lost in the vegetation. Well worth a visit, and the views over Quito on a sunny day are spectacular. There is also a pack of llamas or alpacas living in the park. Some really good fresh juice stands... More
Parque Metropolitano is one of the best places I have been to ride a bike, jog, or just spend some time with family or friends I have ever found in a city. It is actually 5 minutes away from the heart of the city and you feel like in the forest at some points of it. If I would live... More
I have been living near Parque Metropolitano more than 1 year, so I feel here like in my yard:) . I love this park because it's like forest, very natural and so big, that sometimes you won't see other persons. And also all people who are coming to this park are very intelligent and cultural; they use sports, walk with kids... More
The park is a great place to visit if you fancy some fresh air and a bit of countryside without straying from the city. There are hiking and bike trails, monumental modern sculptures (rather ugly), picnic areas and food stalls selling cevichocho – a kind of vegetarian ceviche very popular here – empanadas, sandwiches and fresh juices. It also has... More
Parque Metropolitano is an oasis not far from the city. Saturdays and Sundays are when a lot of local families come to spend time hiking, running, mountain biking, having picnics, or playing with their dogs/kids in the play areas. Since we live in Quito, we go up for a long hike at least once on the weekend and it feels... More
I went to this park on more than one occasion and really enjoyed it each time. The trails are very nice, winding through forests of Eucalyptus. There are spaces with bbq pits that can be rented for a day. Overall, this park offers a wonderful break from the city.
The Metropolitan Park in Quito is a great spot to get lost in a forest in the middle of the city, has great points of view and great biking and hiking trails...
