I took a city tour and was able to spend an hour here. It was only a dollar to climb to the top, where not only you could take tons of pictures of the city, but you could read about and see pictures of the erecting of this statue. There are also many very pretty stain glass windows in the... More

really nice view of city even on an overcast day. The Aluminum statue is wonderful to see and our private guide pointed out the different areas of the city and gave us the story behind the statue. There is a small area behind where vendors sell food and there are some Banos.

This is Quito's version of Christ the Redeemer. While it is not as magnificent as Christ the Redeemer it is still a wonderful landmark that you can see from all over the city.

This aluminum structure is a landmark of Quito. Views from the top of the hill are great, it will give you a very good idea of the real size of this city. I recommend going there in private transportation as a bit hard to get there walking and I believe there is no public transportation getting there. Go there before... More

When I left the hostel I thought im not going due to the clouds. At Santo Domingo I decided to go anyway. I took a taxi. I woulfnt recommend to walk. Not just for safety reason i guess there are better hikes in the area. The view was not perfect but still amazing and as I will be staying for... More

I went by car and I was told that it's not safe to go by foot being a tourist. The Statue itself is not beautiful but the view you can have from there gives you a perfect idea of the size of the city

Since you see her from almost every place in Quito you may as well see her up close. We were told that it was not safe to walk up so we took the hop-on/hop-off tour bus which stopped for about half an hour at the top which was plenty of time to take photos.

Let's face it... it's just a big statue... There are vendors with our typically tourist knick knacks at the top... and you can pay $1 to climb the stairs inside the statue... but other than that it's not that impressive it's self. It's more about the view it has to offer over the city. We took the stairs... even though... More

We took a taxi ( c $5 ) from the old town, and loved the views from the top. Not only can you climb up to a viewing gallery, but there is a large open area of green sward, with trees below, where you can sit and watch the city below. If time is short, or weather uncertain, this is... More
