The statue is amazing and i'm not usually fond of Catholic statues. This one is truly a work of art with interesting symbolism Don't attempt to walk up to the top as several place along the way are considered dangerous for tourists. Also, we saw few gringos there - same for old town Quito. Anyway, this place is a photo... More

You can walk there from Old Town but I recommend you to take a taxi. It is safer. There is fantastic view of Quito from there.

You can hike this from Old Town, though it really isn't recommended for safety reasons. Easy to cab up and take a look around. The views of Quito and the surrounding areas are to die for! Gives you a wonderful idea of the size of Quito, and let's you see the incredible terrain surrounding the city. Just gorgeous!

The statue is beautiful and is on a hill top that has one of the best views of Quito where you can also see a few volcanoes on a clear day. You can also often see kids flying kites here. I recommend taking the Quito City Tour double-decker bus as you'll be able to use your ticket for the whole... More

You can see El Panecillo from various points in Quito, but the ride up to the winged Madonna is worth the trip. My friends and I (4 of us) took a cab from Centro Historico to the top of the hill and asked the driver to wait for us while we took pictures and wondered around. Our cost was $8... More

I visit to Quito is not complete without a visit to La Virgin. It is amazing and the view is wonderful.

This is my vote for one of the must do's in Quito. The monument is beautiful and the views of the city from there are just fantastic. Inside, the history and pictures of the building of the monument are really interesting. There is a small market outside where you can pick up some souvenirs or a bite to eat.

A visit to the Panecillo is a must. This is supposedly the only winged Madonna in the World. The small entrance fee is worth it even just for the view of the city and surrounding mountains. There is a small flea market at the steps of the Panecillo. Getting there takes some time, with a car and estimate to spend... More

The statue is impressive. Can be seen from anyplace in the city. Try not to visit the area in the night, you may not feel safe. Also, local artisans have small shops close to the statue, you might want to bring cash. The statue is from the Immaculate Conception representing how good over comes evil; the virgin is squashing with... More

I really enjoyed my trip up to see the virgin. Very nice views in all directions give you an appreciation of how grand Quito is. Some shopping kiosks at the top.
