The landmark aluminum statue of a winged Madonna is a highly visible icon from anywhere in Quito. From this vantage point you have an incredible view of Quito, and a new appreciation for its expansive terrain. Ironically the virgin is squashing the snake with her barefoot representing " good overcoming evil " but it is still dangerous to ascend the... More

This is an amazing site from just about every point in the city. We took two cars up to the summit and it was well worth the trip. You can see how the city and old quarter are laid out. I can't believe this only has a ranking of 25. It's as much an icon to the residents as is... More

How this is not one of the top 5 attraction sakes no sense. You can see the statue from everywhere in Quito and you must take the short taxi ride up there. It really is an amazing statue made from Aluminium panels. Also you will fabulous views over the city of Quito. Don't try to walk up you probably won't... More

The statue is amazing and i'm not usually fond of Catholic statues. This one is truly a work of art with interesting symbolism Don't attempt to walk up to the top as several place along the way are considered dangerous for tourists. Also, we saw few gringos there - same for old town Quito. Anyway, this place is a photo... More

You can walk there from Old Town but I recommend you to take a taxi. It is safer. There is fantastic view of Quito from there.

You can hike this from Old Town, though it really isn't recommended for safety reasons. Easy to cab up and take a look around. The views of Quito and the surrounding areas are to die for! Gives you a wonderful idea of the size of Quito, and let's you see the incredible terrain surrounding the city. Just gorgeous!

The statue is beautiful and is on a hill top that has one of the best views of Quito where you can also see a few volcanoes on a clear day. You can also often see kids flying kites here. I recommend taking the Quito City Tour double-decker bus as you'll be able to use your ticket for the whole... More

You can see El Panecillo from various points in Quito, but the ride up to the winged Madonna is worth the trip. My friends and I (4 of us) took a cab from Centro Historico to the top of the hill and asked the driver to wait for us while we took pictures and wondered around. Our cost was $8... More

I visit to Quito is not complete without a visit to La Virgin. It is amazing and the view is wonderful.
