The only winged virgin statue of this period

This is yet another impressive overlook in Quito. The statue is quite unusual up close, and available to enter for a fee. Plenty of parking and nice views.

This monument is really impressive. You reach the top of a mountain with a huge statue of Virgin Mary and a wonderful view from Quito. Also, in front of the monument there is a very good restaurant with a espetacular view and food.

A visit to the Panecillo is a "must do." I recommend that you go twice...once at night and once during the day. It offers one of the great views of the city. I didn't go into the virgin but the stature and its construction is very interesting.

This statue is located at the top of a hill which renders beautiful views of Quito. However, I personally prefer looking at it from a distance on the lower parts of the city. It's beautiful to look at in the evening, but I wouldn't recommend going up to see it at night because of the sketchy activity that occurs there.... More

amazing view of Quito from the top of the monument! Get there in the city bus, or taxi (try not walking there, it can be dangerous) Have a GREAT lunch/dinner in Pims restaurant with a great view!

This can be seen from most anywhere, and it is very interesting and lovely to look at. However, we were told not to walk there--take a cab! People who walk up there get mugged more than half the time. But if you take a cab, you'll get an awesome view! And it's guarded when you get up there!

Cost is $2 per person to go inside statue. It is amazing to see how it was put together piece by piece. Beautiful views of the city from the statue platform and even from the ground. Unless you are going to go souvenir shopping or get something to eat from street vendors there, you will be done in less than... More

This statue is visible from almost every part of Quito. It is made of over 700,000 pieces of aluminum. The face is absolutely beautiful. Souvenir stands are at the base of the statue as is the wonderful Pim's restaurant and their Potato soup.

Just south of the old town and located on a hill, the monument El Panecillo is a decent place for views over Quito's sprawl. I'd recommend a trip up there early evening as you have the sun behind you. It's worth spending a dollar to enter the statue too as the views are even better. You won't need long up... More
