I went by car and I was told that it's not safe to go by foot being a tourist. The Statue itself is not beautiful but the view you can have from there gives you a perfect idea of the size of the city

Since you see her from almost every place in Quito you may as well see her up close. We were told that it was not safe to walk up so we took the hop-on/hop-off tour bus which stopped for about half an hour at the top which was plenty of time to take photos.

Let's face it... it's just a big statue... There are vendors with our typically tourist knick knacks at the top... and you can pay $1 to climb the stairs inside the statue... but other than that it's not that impressive it's self. It's more about the view it has to offer over the city. We took the stairs... even though... More

Take a bus up and down from the Panecillo, get the true urban experience. For .25c you can't go wrong. Hopefully you will have clear skies because its a beatiful view from the top.

We took a taxi ( c $5 ) from the old town, and loved the views from the top. Not only can you climb up to a viewing gallery, but there is a large open area of green sward, with trees below, where you can sit and watch the city below. If time is short, or weather uncertain, this is... More

heavily visited with a nice view of the north and south Quito. Interesting but frankly you can skip it and find worthwhile history in Centro Historico

The landmark aluminum statue of a winged Madonna is a highly visible icon from anywhere in Quito. From this vantage point you have an incredible view of Quito, and a new appreciation for its expansive terrain. Ironically the virgin is squashing the snake with her barefoot representing " good overcoming evil " but it is still dangerous to ascend the... More

This is an amazing site from just about every point in the city. We took two cars up to the summit and it was well worth the trip. You can see how the city and old quarter are laid out. I can't believe this only has a ranking of 25. It's as much an icon to the residents as is... More

How this is not one of the top 5 attraction sakes no sense. You can see the statue from everywhere in Quito and you must take the short taxi ride up there. It really is an amazing statue made from Aluminium panels. Also you will fabulous views over the city of Quito. Don't try to walk up you probably won't... More
