The glittering gold all over the church is awesome. A must see. Craftsmanship and the precision work on the gold is amazing. You cans spend hours just looking inside. Fully worth a visit,

La Campania was exceptionally beautiful with its ornate gold baroque style architecture. We couldn't take any pictures as they're not allowed but enjoyed the peaceful ambience and beauty of this church. It was less than a 5 minute walk from Hotel Patio Andaluz where we stayed.

Aside from the four dollar entry fee, the Compañia de Jesus church is a real event. I especially liked the picture of the punishment awaiting the the sinners on the right side of the church near the front door. Adulterers, drunkards and usurers beware!

The renovations will take your breath away. It and San Francisco are within comfortable walking-distance of Hotel Gangotena and well worth the visit.

You might think the title is misleading, however if you consider that the church took about 160 years to be built, then you understand the hidden treasure you have in front of your eyes, You can not take picture inside, but that is not needed you will be amazed and its very difficult for you to forget the fantastic experience... It is definitely interesting to see the intricate and extensive gold decoration in this church, but not worth the $4 admission. It is not that big and you are not allowed to take photos inside. Go to the Basilica del Voto instead!

La Compania de Jesus was the original name of the Jesuits. This originally was a Jesuit church dedicated to their founder, St Ignatius ,until they grew out of favor and had to leave town and the church was given to a local Order. An earthquake destroyed much of it . It was returned to the Jesuits and restoration began until... More

Gorgeous church. We just happened to go on a Monday when no admission was charged. To get in, just ask the man at the gate to open the gate for you.

The guilded church is beautiful. Its amazing and breathtaking to behold, not comparable to the churches of Rome of course but still beautiful.

This church is not very pretty from the outside but it is rated No. 1 so we paid the $4.00 and went inside. It was all gold; everything was covered in gold. While this obviously took a great deal of time, effort, and skill, I found it a bit gaudy. We didn't stay very long and were not allowed to... More
