Beautiful!

Ornately created and fascinating to visit! We couldn't take too much time exploring as it was about to close, but we were grateful for the few moments we got!

A must do while in Quito. The church is lathered in 24 carat gold. It costs $5 USD to enter and if you are savvy enough to ask one of the guides you can go upstairs for an additional $2 USD.

Loved the fact that everything inside was covered with gold. Read more about the church and other attractions of the beautiful qUito through my eyes by clicking the below link: http://www.madaboutdeetravel.com/2015/07/about-quito-paradise-between-volcanoes.html

The church is a splendid example of early Spanish Colonial ecclesiastical architecture and ornamentation. Its central role in the history of Quito makes is a landmark not to be missed.

Beautiful Romanesque church in the centre of old Quito. 7 tons of gold was used to cover the interior - gaudy and ostentatious but fascinating!

If you like a bit of gold leaf you will be bowled over by the amount in this church. It's considered the most beautiful church in Quito and I could see why. Included in the entrance fee is the option for a free guided tour which was informative, but the guide's English was that great and she spoke very fast.... More

This is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. Most surfaces are covered with 24K gold gilt. I find it sad that it was built in a time of great poverty and exists in a time of poverty. The best thing to say for it is that is is a great example of man's creativity and artistic... More

Quite amazing. Ask for a guide. A confluence of centuries and architectures. Possibly the most beautifully decorated small church.

This is one of the most beautiful church I have ever seen. I have seen churches in the Holy Land, Italy Rome, Bermuda. The La Compua de Jesus is so beautiful the interior is unbelievable. Most of it was built by the Incas and an holy place for them to worship. It is truly worth visiting if in Quito, Ecuador.
