Is just in the Centro Historico de Quito, near the government palace, its Magical, done by angels.... I love this church and its history...the golden parts of the church, it doesnt take you too much time to visit this colonial church.

Maybe you are sick of visiting churches. I was. But my wife made me go and I was throughly impressed with the inside decorations. More gold filigree (sp?) here than in all of Europe. Either a spectacular or a spectical, doesn{t matter! It is right downtown. Another must see.

The interior of this church couldn't be more different from the exterior. Drab brown stone outside gives way to breath-taking opulence of gold inside! Don't miss it! Pictures are not allowed inside so the biggest difference between going during the tourist visiting hours versus mass is probably the ability to walk around freely. We missed the tourist hours (closes at... More

This is the best jewel in Quito. Don't miss going inside and take your time seeing all the details and the incredible work in gold. It is better to visit when there is no religious services so you can get up close to the front of the church.

This and the many other churches and cathedrals in Quito will leave you sated. Rather ironic that every surface of this church is covered in gold leaf, but they have to charge $$ for common people to enter it. It is over the top.

If you visit Quito you must enjoy the greatness of La Compañia, it is the most representative Church of all the beautiful churchs you can find in the old down town.

Definitely worth a look so much gold and also a crazy painting showing various gruesome punishments. Cool

Our guide spoke Spanish which was fine with us--not sure about local English guides in the church. We also saw a concert in the church at night--

I can't imagine that there are many other churches around the world that put so much money and gold in a place that is traditionally considered to be very poor. However it was interesting to hear about the history and the architecture of this church.

Don't miss a visit to such an incredible sample of richness and power of this Compañia de Jesus. Be careful to ask for time of visit. The church is not always open.
