The whole place is lined in gold-leaf. One leaves with a very nasty taste in the mouth of the extraordinary profligance of the church against a background of deep poverty.

One of the most beautiful churches I've seen in my life. The entrance was free and they take you in a group and show you around which I didn't like because I wanted to take my time exploring and admiring the construction. So we went back on Sunday for mass and that gave me enough time to sit there and... More

I got lucky and found the church open at night, it is just superb! A colonial church with lots of art inside and glittering all over with the gold covered sculptures all over the church, including a great ceiling. They do not allow to take pictures but everything is printed in my eyes...

One of the rare churches opened in Quito Tremendously beautiful worth a visit, but have a guide or you will miss the details and history of this building to understand it

Do not miss this amazing church with the gleaming gold throughout. You can't take pictures inside so be sure to buy the postcards or book.

Very stunning. We went on a Sunday so got to see a Mass, but weren't able to take photos. The gold is just stunning... definitely worth a visit.

This place literally brought a tear to my eye - it is SO stunning. The $3 entrance fee is well worth it. We live in Europe which is full of gorgeous churches but we have never seen anything this stunning before!! You're not allowed to take photos inside as an FYI.

This church is amazing on the outside but spectacular on the inside. My husband and I walked around and just soaked up all the gold!:) it reminded me of Thailand where everything seems to be covered in gold or gols leaf and totally overdone but amazing beautiful at the same time. Cost wasmimthin 2$ per person but well worth it... More

So beautiful!! From the inside it's a magnificent church with its golden walls and golden art everywhere. You should spend the entrance fee and enjoy a guided tour of that church. It's worth it.
