I recently did the one day Cotopaxi downhill mtb ride with the biking Dutchman. The ride was pitched to us as a 32k ride with a max elevation of 4500m and minimum elevation of 3200m. Ride time was said to be approximately 3 hours. The actual ride was however rather different. The top 4 to 6 corners of the road... More

Today I went on the day trip to the Cotopaxi with the Biking Dutchman tour. It was exceptional on all levels! The guides, drivers and food faultless (we were lucky with a perfectly sunny day as well). I have family in Ecuador and have been to base camp of the Cotopaxi several times before...but this is a not-to-be-missed experience. I'm... More

This 1 day Cotopaxi cycle trip on the second day of our 2 month trip around South America set the benchmark for the rest of the trip. We were lucky enough to be guided by Jan - the Dutchman himself. Starting at 15,000ft up Cotopaxi volcano in the midst of a freezing blizzard cloud, Jan's first and foremost concern was... More

A group of us recently did the one day biking tour down Cotapaxi Volcano. If you are considering doing this trip I would urge you to go with this company. We emailed a few different companies asking for prices etc. and Biking Dutchman were the most efficient, replying promptly with really good information and also quoting us the most reasonable... Wow! Thanks so much for this rewarding Review! We are really proud of having delivered so much fun, as -at the end of the day- what else do you want during your holiday? We did the Four Day tour- 1-riding down Cotopaxi from 15000 ft 2-Quilotoa exploration of the crater lake and villages 3-Riding down snow covered Chimborazo 16000 ft 4-Waterfalls galore riding from Banos almost to Puyo. Wild horses, vicuna, snow, rain, sun and great companions. Fernando, our guide, easily wins the "best guide" award in our travelled opinion. He was organized,... More

After reading your thorough description of your adventure in Ecuador I am simply speechless! What can I add to your kind words? Absolutely nothing! I am just truly and genuinely thankful for your generosity and kindness. I especially liked your appreciative words for Fernando, our awesome guide. He is indeed caring and knowledgeable and we are thankful for his involvement... More

This was easily the best experience of our three week trip through Colombia and Ecuador. We were picked up at 7am. Drove up to around 4.400m and than hiked to the top of the vulcano (4.800). Even though it was a bit cloudy up there it was a great feeling to reach the top. Afterwards we went back to the... More

The amazing views, the bike ride itself but especially the fact that you can pear inside the crater of an active volcano, makes this tour unique. However, this experience is a treat, reserved just for the daredevils, happy to hear that you enjoyed it. What amazes me most of this day tour is the fact that it is so close... More

Wow! Cant recommed the activity enough, though we lucked out with the weather on nye. No hike to the refuge or the glacier as the description. But they promised a lot of biking instead. And they delivered. The pace was, sometimes, medium to exprerienced MBs. so if you are not used to a lot of downhill/moutain biking, I would strongly recommend... More

Good morning We are very sorry to read your comment. In our defense, we never promise to hike to the refuge. This is the description we ALWAYS send you our clients: “…. After visiting the museum and savoring a cup of ginger tea we continue the ascent in our 4-wheel drive vehicle until we reach the highest point of the... More

My family and a friend booked a day trip mountain biking down Cotopaxi Volcano with The Biking Dutchman on January 2nd. I had read great reviews on Trip Advisor and elsewhere and was not let down. Jan, the Dutchman was very pleased with your Review and wanted you to know that it was a treat to go with you and share magical moments in Cotopaxi National Park. The condors -an endangered species- are not always to be seen. When it happens it is a treat for everybody, even for the Dutchman who has been many, many... More

Had a great time with Fernando. We felt supported and safe in our biking tour. Taking us out to into the National park was wonderful as we experienced the solitude and beauty of the area. We booked a 2 day trip with Biking Dutchman to Cotopaxi and Quilotoa. The trip was amazing! The views and proximity to Cotopaxi along with the solitude of biking between Cotopaxi and Ruminahui was incredible. The drive in the afternoon to Quilotoa was also beautiful through dramatic valleys and the Andes mountains, villages, kids, etc. The second day of biking... More
