The artist's work is very political and his homage to Salvador Allende is particularlty moving. The mural of the metaphorical bull versus the condor is incredible. A guided tour of his architecturally very interesting home is a must. His home includes many works of art as well as photos of friends of Guayasamin including Fidel Castro who visited him in... Capilla del Hombre and the Mueso are located in the Bellavista hills, named for the beautiful views of the city below. We took a taxi from the hotel, some cool young dude picked us up in front of our hotel. We get to the Capilla, pay $4 then go in. On our way back, we had to walk a block... More

It's definitely worthwhile to go to this museum and then visit the artist's home, where he clearly lived the good life - surprising after seeing all of his paintings filled with suffering. Despite that, it's quite a notable accomplishment to have been willing and able to devote his work to transmit the idea of universal suffering the way Guayasamin does... More

Went here as a couple. Be aware that this is 90% about a single artist. His work is extremely well shown in the main building. The rest (his house etc.) was a bit lackluster and can be skipped.

Guyasamin had the idea of creating this Capilla del Hombre, or Chapel of Man, to honor human beings and their reach for light and freedom. As I noted in a separate review of the Guyasamin Museum (set in his former home and right next to the Chapel), it's a beautiful and dramatic setting that shows off his large painting and... More

There are some Quito's highlights you shouldn' t lose and Capilla del Hombre is one of them. Allow yourself a couple of hours, try to arrive early morning or immediately after lunch, because guided visits take some time. You must begin by visiting Guayasamín house, with its all pieces of art, then the gardens and some of his sculptures and... More

Worth the trip, great experience. Beautiful paints displayed in this interesting building. Very strong political views ara also openly displayed, that you may or may not agree with. Either way it is hard to remain indifferent.

A little way out of the main touristy area of Quito, this gallery museum is in two parts, the house which Oswaldo Guayasamín lived and worked in (designed by his brother) and the gallery he had built (designed by his nephew) when he decided to leave all his art to the nation. Both very different but well worth visiting

Went to the museum without any knowledge about Guayasamín, still it was an amazing experience. The house is really cool!
