The town set up a large screen in the plaza to show the Chile and Australia game. Iy was a lot of fun to watch the last 20 min. of the game here and see the crowd's response when Chile won. I assume they will be showing all of the Chilean games here.

This place was incluided in our tour, nothing but a plaza with lots of traffic around, beggars also and stray dogs, ah and one marine guarding the monument, worth to see since its free.

This plaza is surrounded by the stately Naval building, a monument and old buildings. Great area to stop briefly for photos before continuing to other sites in the city.

You will probably run across this large plaza as you traverse Valparaiso. Many of the free walking tours start here. I especially liked the ones run by Ecomapu Travel which start at noon and 4pm Tuesday thru Sunday. Groups are smaller than with the other companies.

This square has a couple of pristine Spanish colonial buildings that are worth a few photos! Would that the rest of Valparaiso was as clean, neat and tidy!

This is a an attractive and busy square right in front of the port of Valparaiso and is the focal point of this end of the town. It has the naval headquarters at the opposite end to the port and several cafes, ice cream parlours and gift shops surrounding it. A few stalls sell art , other artefacts. The city... More

The Navy building and the monument are OK but the rest is just a car park and busy road. There are a lot of derelict buildings nearby and it can get dodgy at night. Not enough cafes or nice buildings surrounding the plaza for me.

No need to come here other than to get in and out of the gorgeous hill neighborhoods above. The old Armada building is pretty but the lack of quality cafes and the traffic make this place a chaotic pit stop.

Probably the most interesting thing about Plaza Sotomayor is its name, making you wonder if there is any connection to the U.S. Supreme Court justice. Probably not, since she has roots in Puerto Rico. Careful here -- the traffic careens through the plaza in what should be more pedestrianized.
