Recently and beautifully restored after a fire, the Teatro Municipal is a wonderful example of classic theatre architecture, red velvet, plasterwork and cherubs feature largely in a horseshoe shape similar to Covent Garden or La Scala with high colonnaded galleries and a big uncovered stalls/orchestra. Maximum ticket price is about 47.000 pesos but for the experienc of just being there... More

There were several performance venues within the theater. When we were in town you could see an opera and there was also a free (!) piano concert one night in an upstairs salon. Tickets to an opera can be purchased at a very reasonable price (compared to US prices) and the performances are excellent. Lovely architecture and nice acoustics. GO!

This is a beautiful building showing Old World charm and also Old World acoustics - the sound is extremely good in the hall. I attended an opera here and also heard the Santiago Symphony Orchestra - excellent acoustics and both organizations have extremely good concert series. Worth a peek even if you aren't a music lover, and a must-do stop... More

As soon as we know there is a concert or show that we would like to see, we make reservations. Always you bring to home a sensational feeling of happiness for the show that you witnessed.

We visited this beautiful building but no shows. Beautiful architecture. It's located in central downtown and a little difficult to find if you don't have a map or a guide to assist. Suggest you do the free walking tour.

Saw the ballet, Mayerling in October at this theatre. Sat in the orchestra section and found the seat to be comfortable with a good view of the stage. Ticket price was relatively cheap compared to the cost of attending ballet productions in other countries.

We were interested in watching a play or something in this Theater since everyone said good things about it, but we were unlucky as it was closed. The façade is beautiful and worth to pass by if you are downtown

Currently closed when I visited Santiago in mid-December. Orchestral Concerts were transferred to the Caupolican Theatre (indoor stadium with surprisingly good acoustics). Philharmonic Orchestra of Santiago is excellent.
