Great place to visit for Chilean crafts in a very pleasant atmosphere. Some guide books say to take the metro, line one, to the 'escuela militar' stop. That was the case until recently, when the metro expansion was completed. There is now a stop 'los dominicos' which makes it very easy. A very nice and relaxed way to spend an... More

The market was fun, interesting, friendly and safe. Lots of stuff to buy for yourself and gifts. Restaurants and restrooms within the market as well. Take the subway to the market. The stop is a short walk away. More

my wife and i took the subway to los dominicos station and with a short walk up the hill we were in a delightful, artisan/handcraft village. its a far cry from the bustle of santiago and a welcome joy to get a good look at what i think is probably typical chilean art and craft. i liked some of the... The church adjacent to the shopping area held my attention more than the shops. They hit all the expected items for Chile- lapis, leather, alpaca. It just wasn't very unique and I walked away without buying anything. There were some stores that had more modern designs that were interesting, but they were in the minority. It isn't that hard to... More

The Los Dominicos Handicraft Village has a great range of leather and other goods, better quality than in the regular markets, but you pay a bit more. Snack foods available too. It's worth the trip to relax in an oasis away from the city, yet close enough to get there easily. Take the red line (train) to the end of... More

This market is on the grounds of the pretty Dominican Church. Inside the whitewashed walls there were small stores along crooked little paths and small dirt streets. I found silk-screened t-shirts with petroglyph designs form the Atacama. I purchased several fat little cherubs or angels that hang from strings and I wish I'd brought home more. A friend bought a... Los Dominicos, as has been noted in another review, is just off of the Los Dominicos subway stop (at one end of the red line). It is true that items are expensive, but this is true throughout Santiago. Although I’ve read that shopkeepers in Chile do not like to bargain, we found most in Santiago—including Los Dominicos—will reduce their prices... More

The market is aimed at tourists and it is too expensive. It is nice to look around and it is easy to find (close to the subway), if you have nothing else to do. By the way, Lonely Planet says it is necessary to get off the subway at Escuela Militar and take a bus, which is wrong. Going to... More

Much better quality merchandise than at any of the other handicraft areas in Santiago. There is also a larger quantity of shops here. More
