Pablo Neruda’s house can be a little hard to find if you, like us, enter from the back street! See my photos for the street landmarks to look out for. Go. You have to make an appointment for an English tour, but you can usually just show up right as it opens and get one for later that day (we did). It teaches you so much about Neruda, but also about Chilean history and politics. Plus the house itself is full of priceless art and whimsical design. More

You don't need a great deal of time to fit this into your trip, but it is well worth it simply for the unique architecture of the home. No photography allowed inside the home. More

There's really not much to do in Santiago, so everyone should make time to see La Chascona. You'll be in Barrio Bellavista anyways and this stop fits in nicely after a hike up Cerro San Cristobal, since it's right at the base of hill.
