This is the best building in Santiago; the atmosphere within the building is fantastic and the size impressive. There may be more ornate cathedrals in South America but this one is worth the visit and should not be missed if you are in the area around plaza de armas More

The cathedral is definitely a reflection of how important the church is in Chilean culture. The ornate altars and chapels to the different saints are beautiful. This is not really a very "touristy" destination, though. A lot of people come here to pray, so I wouldn't recommend excessive picture taking and boisterousness. That being said, I would still take a... More

This cathedral, located in Plaza de Armas is a beautiful building on the outside. Inside, it is somewhat dark and underwhelming. It certainly does not possess anything outstanding. However, it is well worth a visit as inevitably you will beat some point in the Plaza where it is located as the Plaza de Armas is Santiago's main square and it... More

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago is worth visiting if only in order to marvel at the size of its cavernous interior. It is quite different form the experiences one may have had from cathedrals in Europe and its a must for visiting central Santiago. More

Beautiful old cathedral on Plaza de Armas. Attend a service or just walk quietly and enjoy the beauty. More

Located in Plaza Armas, this epic Catholic Cathedral rivals anything you will see in Europe. The decor is exquisite, the side chapels are worth the visit by themselves. And close to the altar there is a passageway that cuts underneath taking you to a modern, haunting rendition of the crucifixition. It is a striking contrast to the baroque art above... More

The Metropolitan Cathedral is a nice, but rather dark cathedral in the neo-Renaissance style. It is well worth a short visit if you are in downtown Santiago Chile, but it does not have the same magic or powerful religious quality of many cathedrals we have visited. More

Nice church inside, old Spanish-style building with huge pillars and beautiful Catholic artwork inside. Also very enjoyable during hot summer days, as it is fresh inside! More
