This is a splendid collection, just off the Plaza de Armas in the city centre.Spend an hour or so of your time here. I think there is a small charge but well worth it.

The museum was damaged in the 2010 earthquake and was due to reopen in March this year but is now not due to reopen until 2013. This was not mentioned in our guide book

This is a terrific Pre-Columbian museum, much better than most, and I've seen many others in Latin America. Budget 2 hrs. minimum

Unfortunately this Museum will be closed for some time for major renovations. Sadly the exhibits have not been moved anywhere else for viewing.

All new travel books and sites recommended it but we were disappointed when we got there and it was closed for extensive renovations!

The displays are instructive and interesting without overloading you with information. However, as from december 2011 the museum is closed for extensive renovation.
